13.40 Rossdales British EBF Maiden Stakes HAFFNER ran a race full of promise when second to Abraham Lincoln on debut at the Curragh, and with more to come stepping up in distance, he might be able to get the better of newcomer Al Wathba.

13.50 Oddschecker Handicap The opening race can go the way of PRINCLING, who is eased in grade and can build on his latest good effort in the Golden Gate when fifth. His penultimate effort at Carlisle was disappointing but last time out’s performance was better and he should be able to go close.

13.50 Bahrain Trophy Stakes (Group 3) DEL MARO should appreciate this longer trip having rallied really well to finish a nose-second in the Queen’s Vase and is down in class. His connections do well at this meeting, so he’s fancied to make it class count by taking the opener.

July Festival: Handicap Best Bets
Calico Blue (Betway Handicap, Thursday) I really like the claims of Roger Varian’s CALICO BLUE, who was a big eye-catcher behind Bacio when fourth of 27 at Royal Ascot in a competitive handicap and has surprisingly been left on the same mark.

14.15 Winning Experience With Moulton Racing Fillies’ Handicap In the opener, a chance is taken on FANTASY OBSESSOR. She’s finished second on three of her last four starts, including here last time out, and must have leading claims off an unchanged mark.

Newmarket July Festival: Three Best Bets
Having had 4/4 winners with my Royal Ascot best bets, I have picked out three for the July fixture at HQ. Rebel’s Romance (Princess Of Wales’s Stakes) REBEL’S ROMANCE has certainly had a career to remember but he’s still at the peak of his powers and can register another big-race success in this Group 2 contest.

13.48 Wakefield Thornes Cricket Club Nursery CLARET AND BLUES has shaped with promise on all three starts to date and did well to finish sixth from a poor draw at Chester. With more to come, Richard Fahey’s charge looks ready to make a serious impact in the opener.

14.15 Download The At The Races App Selling Handicap Off a low-weight, SAPPHIRE DREAM could be the answer to the opener. I thought he turned in a good display when third at Yarmouth last time out and should go very well off only a 2lb higher mark.

14.11 Hadley’s ‘Hello My Wee China’ Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Twice a winner over C&D, WATER OF LEITH is only a pound above his last winning mark and should be able to get involved.

13.50 Coral Charge (Group 3) The very talented ASFOORA hasn’t been at her best this season but this three-time Group 1 winner must be considered a huge player with her sights lowered. I’m hopeful she will make her class count in the opener.

13.50 HKJC World Pool Battaash Handicap HAVANA HURRICANE has mostly been competing in stronger races than this and should appreciate this lower level. His penultimate third in a Listed event is strong, as is his win at Royal Ascot last year.
