Royal Ascot 2026: Favourites BOOM or BUST (Part 2 – Day 3, 4 & 5) Scandinavia (Gold Cup) SCANDINAVIA has undoubtedly progressed as a stayer and has now won his last five outings. He is sure to be ready to run another huge race and could well land the spoils.

Royal Ascot Day 2 Place 6 Preview 14.30 Queen Mary Stakes (Fillies’ Group 2) WILD BLOSSOM looked exceptional when breezing to a 10-length success on debut at Carlisle last month and her connections won that race last year with Venetian Sun before that one scored at this meeting.

Royal Ascot 2026: Favourites BOOM or BUST (Part 1 – Days 1 & 2)
In part one of BOOM or BUST, I look at the favourites in each of the Group 1 events on day 1 and 2 of Royal Ascot and provide my thoughts as to whether I think they will win or not. Notable Speech (Queen Anne Stakes, Tuesday 16th) The opening Group 1 of the week is the Queen Anne Stakes and there’s a strong chance multiple top-level winner NOTABLE SPEECH will be able to get punters off to a great start.

Four Best Bets for Royal Ascot 2026
Bow Echo (St James’s Palace Stakes) The first one is BOW ECHO. George Boughey’s charge was a dominant winner of the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and I am struggling to see how Gstaad can reverse the form.

14.14 Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Apprentice Handicap Allegrino is the one to beat in the opener but a chance is taken on RED MOON. He is down in grade for his handicap debut and has Toby Moore on his back.

13.50 Queen Mother’s Cup Handicap CHILLINGHAM was awarded this race last year (initially finished second) and is back to try and defend his crown. He’s 6lb lower in the handicap this time, so despite running poorly here last time, he can go well.

13.50 Andy Thornton Hospitality Furniture Apprentice Handicap JANNA’S JOURNEY is back down to her last winning mark and finished an unlucky sixth of 17 in a much stronger race here in October. She’s 8lb lower in the handicap now, so I fancy her to run a big race having caught the eye at Carlisle last time out.

14.20 KBIS British Equestrian Insurance EBF Novice Stakes It’s difficult to pinpoint the winner. However, CAVALIER and CLOUD SUMMIT represent powerful connections that do very well with two-year-old’s, so it would come as no surprise to see either of them make a serious impact in the opener.

14.30 Ladies Day Sunday 16th August Handicap Chase FRIENDS DON’T ASK has placed on all three starts this term and was unfortunate to be mugged right on the line last time out. The assessor is allowing him to compete off the same mask, so compensation could well be on the cards.
