  13.50 Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pool Handicap  WEST ACRE hasn’t shown his best in the UK on his last four starts but is a Group 2 winner in Meydan and cannot be written off. Others to consider are COROLLA POINT, Windsor winner TREFOR and TOCA MADERA, who has plenty of course form in the book.

  West Acre (13.50pm Wednesday) An ultra-competitive handicap to start proceedings, where plenty can be given a chance. However, WEST ACRE is probably worth a second look. His last four starts in Britain haven’t been great but his form in Meydan last and this year were decent (Group 3 and Group 2 winner in 2025).

  14.30 Follow AtTheRaces On Instagram Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap C&D winner DIAMOND BAY can capitalise on the drop in grade off his reduced mark. He ran as well as could have been expected at Newbury last time out and is dangerously well handicapped on historical pieces of form.

  MALTESE CROSS (Great Voltigeur Stakes, Wednesday) What a race we have in prospect and I’m hoping the consistent MALTESE CROSS can turn the tables on Christmas Day. He ran a good race to finish second in the Epsom Derby behind the latter, considering he had plenty of ground to make up on the winner.

  13.25 Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Geoffrey Freer Stakes Dubai Honour is undoubtedly the class act and the one to beat. However, he does have a bit of an absence to overcome and it’s possible a race-fit TABLETALK might just have his measure when push comes to shove.

  15.00 Chapel Down Apprentice Handicap GREY FOX has course-winning form and is 2lb lower than when last successful. He returned to form with a neck-second at Windsor last time out and has only gone up a pound as a result, so he must have every chance of going one better.

  17.30 Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Apprentice Handicap AMATHUS won at this course last time out (survived stewards), so although the return to a mile asks a question, the nine-year-old must be feared if in the same form.
