Warwick Place 6 preview | 8th November

12.45 – 100% RacingTV Profits Back To Racing Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase – 2m4f

BONZA BOY didn’t really fulfil the earlier promise he displayed over hurdles towards the end of last year and early this year, but he wasn’t discredited on his first start over fences at Chepstow when fourth and could make the most of some generosity by the handicapper, who has dropped him 6Ib. WALK IN THE WILD won his first couple of starts in this sphere last season and must be thereabouts with a good record when fresh.

Tips: BONZA BOY, WALK IN THE WILD

13.15 – Watch On Racing TV Novices’ Hurdle – 2m

A few of these can be considered, but none more so than HELNWEIN, who derived from his promising debut fifth to open his account at the second time of asking at Ffos Las. He then backed that up with a solid third at Uttoxeter, and that form is useful, given the second, Hasthing, filled third in a Grade 2 at Aintree next time. With the pedigree to do even better now faced with a set of obstacles, Alan King’s charge is the one to beat.

Tips: HELNWEIN

13.50 – Visit racingtv.com Novices’ Handicap Chase – 3m

HOWAYA NOW placed in both completed starts in Irish points and was last seen running a solid race to finish second on handicap debut at Newbury on similar ground. He will handle the ground better than most and should be competitive on his debut over fences. Of the rest, bottom-weight ROCKINASTORM is another who will handle the ground and will make his chase debut off a tiny weight with Johnny Burke booked to ride.

Tips: HOWAYA NOW, ROCKINASTORM

14.25 – Ignite Incentives Handicap Chase – 3m1f

Midlands National winner MAJOR DUNDEE should be favourite. After just seven chase starts, he has three wins, a third in a Scottish Grand National, and turned in a career-best performance last time when taking the Midlands renewal at Uttoxeter. He won’t be inconvenienced by the ground, is open to further improvement, and can make his class count at this lower level than last time. The top-weight BOBHOPEORNOHOPE is only 1Ib above his last success, so he’s feared most.

Tips: MAJOR DUNDEE, BOBHOPEORNOHOPE

15.00 – Racing TV Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m3f

This race can go to the grade-dropping PRETENDING, who was last seen finishing second in a listed race at Cheltenham and is only 1Ib higher in this weaker race. I am surprised she isn’t trading shorter against these because her form is the strongest on offer, plus she has now placed in four of her five hurdle starts. The only caveat would be the soft ground, but if she handles it, she should be able to get her head in front. She won’t find an easier opportunity elsewhere to do so. The former is a non-runner so this will now go into the favourite but cover with BACKINFORGLORY.

Tips: PRETENDING (N/R), FAV & BACKINFORGLORY

15.35 – racingtv.com Handicap Hurdle – 3m2f

BOBO MAC would eat these for breakfast in his prime, but the veteran is still fancied to roll back the years and come out on top from his lower mark after the handicapper generously dropped him a few pounds from when last seen. He has regularly run this course well, and this former course winner should be in the firing line under suitable conditions on his return. MY LAST OSCAR was disappointing when last seen, but he has two wins on soft ground and is back on his last winning mark, so he could get involved.

Tips: BOBO MAC, MY LAST OSCAR
