York horse racing tips

13.40 – Langleys Solicitors British EBF Marygate Fillies’ Stakes (Listed) – 5f

We welcome a wide-open Listed prize to start the final day of York’s three-day meeting and the Clive Cox-trained CRAZYLAND looked above-average when scoring easily on debut at Windsor and would have learnt plenty from that outing. She is drawn nicely in stall 6 so is expected to be thereabouts, while Ed Dunlop boasts an excellent 26% strike-rate here and his only runner on the card, BELLARENA LADY can progress further having opened her account in good fashion at Leicester three weeks ago. Furthermore, William Buick is an interesting jockey booking so a big performance looks on the cards.

Selections: CRAZYLAND, BELLARENA LADY

14.10 – Oaks Farm Stables Fillies’ Stakes – 7f

SNOW LANTERN best two highly-promising colts when returning an impressive winner at Newbury last month and has more potential than most of these so should take some beating. SHINE FOR YOU ran a blinder to be nearest the finish in a Group 3 at Newmarket when last seen and that form has worked out strongly with the winner, Saffron Beach, finishing runner-up in the 1000 Guineas. This step up in trip will suit and the softish ground won’t bother her either, therefore, this filly could go well carrying fewer units than most.

Selections: SNOW LANTERN, SHINE FOR YOU

14.40 – Matchbook ‘Best Value’ Exchange Handicap – 1m2f

BLUE CUP would certainly have gone close at Epsom last month, where he was denied a clear passage throughout the home stretch and ended up finishing on the bridle in fifth place. He has been let in here off the exact same mark and, granted a better fortune in-running, William Buick’s mount has an excellent chance to make amends. FISHABLE ran a solid race on reappearance at Ripon when fourth and went close over C&D here last season when second. The application of first-time cheekpieces allied with that run under his belt should see him thereabouts with conditions holding no fears.

Selections: BLUE CUP, FISHABLE

15.10 – Matchbook Yorkshire Cup Stakes – 1m5f

NAYEF ROAD was placed in a trio of top staying events last term and was far from disgraced when third to Stradivarius in the Sagaro at Ascot on return. He looks set to give another good account of himself under Ben Curtis. SIR RON PRIESTLEY heads the list of dangers, who has looked better than ever in landing both starts this term, grinding it out from the front on each occasion, including at Newmarket last-time-out over a trip short of his best. He should be able to get a decent lead and will be tough to pass, though, this race demands more.

Selections: NAYEF ROAD, SIR RON PRIESTLEY

15.40 – Jigsaw Sports Branding Handicap – 7f

MUNTADAB has posted several good efforts over this C&D, including when third of 20 off top-weight when rated 100 back in 2018. He returned to form to finish second last-time-out from the front under today’s rider and given he’s sure to relish conditions from this career-low mark, the nine-year-old is fancied to capitalise on the handicappers mercy. Of the remainder, TRINITY LAKE has filled the runner-up on his last three starts and remains well-treated from his current mark being only 1Ib higher than when third over C&D here last season in a big-field handicap. He’s drawn well in stall 8 and has often left the strong impression that his turn is near under regular rider, Zak Wheatley.

Selections: MUNTADAB, TRINITY LAKE

16.15 – Yorkshire Equine Practice Handicap – 5f

COUNTRY CARNIVAL shaped as though she needed her first run of the season when down the field at Bath and is back at the scene of her excellent third in the Listed EBF Marygate Fillies’ Stakes last season. She showed smart form last term over the minimum trip and the booking of James Doyle is appealing to say the least. With that in mind, she’s worth one more chance to rediscover her top-class two-year-old form with plenty in her favour. FIGHTER PILOT is also worthy of consideration in his hat-trick for the Kevin Ryan team. He comfortably landed the odds at Nottingham last month and should be in the mix in what is his toughest test to date.

Selections: COUNTRY CARNIVAL, FIGHTER PILOT
