Chepstow Place 6 preview | 8th November

12.55 – Viasat Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase – 2m7f

In the hope this doesn’t come too soon, last week’s impressive course winner, ECEPARTI, should be too good for these. He absolutely trounced his rivals from a career-low mark seven days ago and should be difficult to beat. FAUSTINOVICK won over C&D on his reappearance last year and is 3Ib lower this time around, so he can definitely be shortlisted.

Tips: ECEPARTI, FAUSTINOVICK

13.30 – TVS Supply Chain Solutions Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase – 2m

Grade 1-winning hurdler TAHMURAS was a bit disappointing in his final two starts last season, but he is surely going to develop into a smart chaser and is the one to beat on his seasonal reappearance. COLONEL HARRY wasn’t far behind the former at Sandown (fourth) in that Grade 1 and wasn’t beaten far when second in a Grade 2 last time. He will love conditions and should be a tough nut to crack, while C&D winner OUT OF OFFICE can be included as cover.

Tips: TAHMURAS, COLONEL HARRY, OUT OF OFFICE

14.05 – Spectra Group ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle – 2m

JACKPOT D’ATHOU finished second in his sole start in France in a bumper and placed twice in a pair of bumpers earlier this year for the champion trainer. He is an interesting hurdles debutant following wind surgery for connections who always do well at this fixture and can make his class count against his nearest market rival despite the lack of hurdles experience. He is the banker to at least fill the frame.

Tips: JACKPOT D’ATHOU

14.40 – Angela Nettlefold Memorial Race Maiden Hurdle – 2m3f

CAPTAIN WALLACE represents an in-form yard, and the rival he was narrowly beaten by in March has since won under rules. With a top jockey booked to ride, he could be capable of making a winning hurdles debut. HEROS DE ROMAY was turned over last time but impressed on his debut at Exeter under similar conditions and should be able to make his mark in this sphere. I am optimistic that one of these two will win this race.

Tips: CAPTAIN WALLACE, HEROS DE ROMAY

15.15 – Echodyne Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m7f

This isn’t a strong race by any means, and a chance is taken on handicap debutant COOLEENYMORE, who has shown promise in each of his three starts and was a clear second last time behind a hot favourite. The step up in distance to three miles should unlock further improvement, and he could be set to play a prominent role in what is a winnable contest.

Tips: COOLEENYMORE

15.50 – Comtech Handicap Hurdle – 2m3f

LEADING SWOOP does lack a recent run, but he returned a good second when last spotted and is only 3Ib higher for that short-head defeat. He handles soft ground and could continue where he left off, while RICHARDSON also ran well last time when second, and although it is far from guaranteed he will be in the same form, if he is, then he should be able to make a serious impact.

Tips: LEADING SWOOP, RICHARDSON
