Pontefract Place 6 preview | 3rd May

13.40 – Go Racing In Yorkshire Future Stars Apprentice Handicap – 5f

MEWS HOUSE has run well in all three starts this year and is a former C&D winner from a 10Ib higher mark in a higher-grade race. He has lots in his favour and his rider claims 5Ib, so he undoubtedly makes the shortlist and is capable of beating the favourite. MUKER is regressive but he was a smart 2 & 3-year-old, who was third in a Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot. He is on a basement mark and would have outstanding claims if able to replicate his earlier form in his career.

Selections: MEWS HOUSE, MUKER

14.15 – Northern Commercials – Used Stock For Quick Delivery EBF Restricted Novice Stakes – 5f

TAYGAR made a winning debut at Beverley two weeks ago and even though she has a penalty to carry this time, she is sure to make a bold bid from a handy draw in stall 2.  CHUMBAA has work to do to reverse latest form with the former but she has run well in both her starts and should be on the premises.

Selections: TAYGAR, CHUMBAA

14.50 – Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust Supporting NHC Handicap – 1m2f

MYTHICAL once contested the Epsom Derby and while he has yet to strike for this yard, he drops into a class 5 for the first time in his career. He wasn’t beaten far in a stronger race at Ripon last time and while he is drawn wide, he is not of this from a career-low mark. SNOOZE LANE has two wins and two placed efforts from his last four starts and has a chance, while BENADALID has run well the last two times to suggest his turn might be near.

Selections: MYTHICAL, BENADALID, SNOOZE LANE

15.25 – Inclusive, Supportive Training At The NHC Handicap – 1m

THE COOKSTOWN CAFU has won two of his last three starts, which includes a win over course-and-distance and at Redcar last time. He has only been nudged up 2Ib for his latest success, so he should again be thereabouts. COPPER AND FIVE might be allowed a soft lead from stall 2 though and is 13Ib below his last winning mark.

Selections: THE COOKSTOWN CAFU, COPPER AND FIVE

16.00 – Train For Work In Racing At thenhc.co.uk Handicap – 6f

ERTEBAT has displayed promise in all three starts, with his best effort coming when second to a 79-rated rival last-time-out. He wouldn’t need to improve much more to have a say in the outcome of this easier contest.  SHINE’S AMBITION has made the frame in both starts at this course and could do so again from a nice slot in stall 1.

Selections: ERTEBAT, SHINE’S AMBITION

16.35 – National Association Of Racing Staff Supporting NHC British EBF Maiden Stakes – 1m

Richard Fahey’s REIDH showed fair form in a pair of novice events last year behind Hi Royal and Captain Winters and this is easier. He is also drawn well in stall 2 as well, so if he is ready to go on his return, he should prove extremely hard to beat.

Selections: REIDH
