Salisbury Place 6 preview | 4th May

13.40 – Byerley Stud British EBF Novice Stakes – 5f

KALIK shaped with bundles of promise when second on debut on soft ground at Newbury and is sure to know more about his job this time around. He was an expensive yearling and his connections have made a good start to the campaign, so he gets the vote to go one better.

Selections: KALIK

14.10 – William Hill Extra Place Races Daily Handicap – 6f

GRENHAM BAY ran well in all of his first three starts in defeat and then beat a subsequent winner at Kempton when last spotted. Oisin Murphy rides again, while FLYING SPIRIT is having just his second start on the turf and could go well having done well towards the end of last year on the all-weather.

Selections: GRENHAM BAY, FLYING SPIRIT

14.45 – William Hill Epic Value Handicap – 6f

ORIENTAL SPIRIT won off a 2Ib higher mark last July on the all-weather and will be fitter from his comeback run last time. He is well-treated off this mark and could figure. PARISIAC was competing off marks in the 80s throughout last year, so he also has a good chance if he is able to build on his latest third.

Selections: ORIENTAL SPIRIT, PARISIAC

15.15 – William Hill Lengthen Your Odds Novice Stakes – 6f

SHAADEN and Greek Order both ran on the same card on debut over course-and-distance in separate events but the former’s race was recorded in a two second overall time, so I suspect Marcus Tregoning’s charge, who finished third, might be the one to beat. He was ultimately no match for 2000 Guineas bound Remarquee on the day but he stayed on well from off the pace to take third and is strongly fancied to confirm that initial view by beating Greek Order and take the spoils.

Selections: SHAADEN

15.50 – William Hill Pick Your Places Handicap – 1m1f

ECTOCROSS left all previous form behind when scoring on handicap debut at Lingfield and followed that up with a good third last time. He now gets the services of Oisin Murphy in the saddle this time, so it is possible he will help this improver make it two wins from his last three in what is a moderate contest.

Selections: ECTOCROSS

16.20 – William Hill In Play Racing Handicap – 1m4f

LADY LABELLE won her debut at Chelmsford and after going close at Wolverhampton next time, she has competed in a pair of handicaps in a class 3 company. She is down grade for her reappearance and Oisin Murphy takes the ride on her for the first time. This is a wide-open race but she should be competitive.

Selections: LADY LABELLE
