Newcastle Place 6 preview | 16th May

13.40 – Download The At The Races App Novices’ Hurdle – 2m

The Donald McCain-trained QUARESOME won his sole bumper when trained in Ireland and followed up on stable/hurdles debut at Musselburgh for this yard, as he outclassed his rivals by six lengths. He is fancied to defy his penalty and make it three-from-three in his career under Brian Hughes.

Selections: QUARESOME

14.15 – At The Races App Market Movers Handicap Chase – 2m

FOURTH OF JULY has been winless in his last 18 starts but has recorded numerous placed efforts since, including over C&D two starts back when third. He is 12Ib below his last winning mark, so he should be competitive if able to repeat his latest placed efforts. SIX ONE NINE has a fairly decent record here, who has a win and two seconds at the course and is a big player down in class after going here last time in a better race.

Selections: FOURTH OF JULY, SIX ONE NINE

14.50 – At The Races App Form Study Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f

OUR LAURA B showcased decent form in bumpers and won her only previous start at this course two starts ago over C&D, winning comfortably by more than three lengths. She was unlucky not to double her tally last time when beaten just a short head and from only a pound higher mark, she has solid claims once more. STARLYTE is also a C&D winner and is 2Ib below her last winning mark, so she is respected.

Selections: OUR LAURA B, STARLYTE

15.25 – Follow AtTheRaces On Twitter Handicap Chase – 2m4f

RIBEYE has made an excellent start to this sphere, winning two of his three starts, including scoring at Hexham ten days ago despite his rider losing his irons in the closing stages. He should go very well here with more to come, while LIMERICK LEADER is another to consider, who should be competitive off this sort of mark after just two chase starts and arriving here after a couple of spins over hurdles.

Selections: RIBEYE, LIMERICK LEADER

16.00 – Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap Hurdle – 2m7f

DELUXE RANGE is a strong fancy in this particular race. It’s been over two years since he was last in the winners enclosure but has run well on his last three starts over hurdles and was beaten only half-a-length on his last visit to this course off a mark of 123 in a stronger race. He is down to a mark of 109, so Sandy Thomson’s eight-year-old has leading credentials. I wouldn’t rule out NIKGARDE though, who is lightly raced for his age and is down in grade.

Selections: DELUXE RANGE, NIKGARDE

16.35 – At The Races App Expert Tips Handicap Hurdle – 2m

KILLANE capitalised on a reduced mark in first-time blinkers at Sedgefield last-time-out and is only 3Ib higher for this race, which is evidently lenient given he beat a 97-rated horse the last day as well. He should be difficult to beat if turning up in similar form in this race. ARTIC ROW also enters the mix with Bruce Lynn taking off an additional 5Ib.

Selections: KILLANE, ARTIC ROW
