ALPHA CAPTURE is related to classy sprinter Acklam Express and there’s lots to like about him on paper, so he could get involved. LAHAB is also nicely bred being a son of U S Navy Flag and could feature, while HECTIC is from a stable who do well with newcomers and shouldn’t be discounted at larger odds.

13.50 – bet365 Stakes (Listed) (Registered As The Steventon Stakes) – 1m2f
TASMAN BAY was too free when down the field at Royal Ascot last month but will be fitter and he placed three times in Group company last year. If he can get back to that sort of form, he’s surely a massive player. GROCER JACK has won and placed in multiple Group races around Europe and now dropped in grade on British debut, he could go well.

14.21 – Highclere Castle Gin Cup Stakes (Handicap) – 2m
Andrew Balding’s ROCK EAGLE is very consistent and ran a cracker when eighth in the Ascot Stakes when last spotted. He travelled well throughout despite being keen and looked to be the winner when they turned in but his earlier excursions told in the latter stages. The drop in grade and trip will be a lot better and he should get cover on this occasion which didn’t happen last time. I think he’s got an outstanding chance of beating these off a mark that’s well within his capabilities if he settles. He’s the best bet on the card in my view.

14.56 – bet365 Hackwood Stakes (Group 3) – 6f
DILIGENT HARRY burst onto the scene as a smart sprinter last year, winning three times and was beaten just a neck in this race twelve months ago to Happy Romance. He will renew rivalry with that same rival on the same terms but Clive Cox’s charge should come on plenty for his return when midfield in the Platinum Jubilee at Royal Ascot. He’s a player, while CHIL CHIL ran a career-best when third in the Sprint Cup last time and should go well if ready to roll. GO BEARS GO disappointed in the Commonwealth Cup but has a good record in this grade and is next best.

15.30 – Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes (GBB Race) – 5f
An ultra-competitive Super Sprint and I have four choices. DARE TO HOPE beat Rocket Rodney with a bit to spare on debut and while he narrowly failed to land the odds next time under a penalty, he will be suited to a strong gallop here and should go well. SAFARI DREAM has shaped with promise in placing in both starts and is an outsider to consider. MIAMI GIRL resumed winning ways at Windsor last time and has an excellent chance for Richard Hannon, who’s got a good record in this, while UNION COURT wasn’t disgraced when midfield in the Windsor Castle and has place possibilities.

She was narrowly beaten by a subsequent winner last time when attempting to give that rival loads of weight and while she’s forced to carry top-weight here, she holds State Occasion on a line through Spirit Of The Bay and the return to a mile will suit. She’s got a good chance.
