Leicester Place 6 preview | 16th February

13.25 – Visit racingtv.com Mares’ Handicap Chase – 2m4f

A disappointing turnout for the opener with only two runners. VOICE OF CALM scored three times over hurdles and has run fairly well in two of her three chase starts. Her yard is in decent form, so this could be a good opportunity for her to get off the mark over fences. TUNE THE CHELLO showed a good level of form when trained in Ireland though and should give the former a lot to think about.

Selections: Voice Of Calm, Tune The Chello

14.00 – 100% Racing TV Profits Back To Racing Beginners’ Chase – 1m7f

HOMETOWN HERO ran his best race over fences when runner-up three weeks ago and, based on that evidence, with cheekpieces fitted, Dan Skelton’s charge is the one to beat. Of the remainder, BLACKO shaped well on his two previous attempts over fences and has a chance off this mark for Evan Williams. The other two look out of their depth.

Selections: Hometown Hero, Blacko

14.35 – TCS Recruitment Handicap Chase – 1m7f

LINE OF DESCENT has placed in all three starts over fences and the form of all three efforts has worked out well. He gets into this race off the same mark as last time and should be competitive. ELMOUNT returned a good third on his return/stable debut over hurdles and is a pound lower back over fences. He has to enter calculations with improvement to offer.

Selections: Line Of Descent, Elmount

15.10 – Constant Security Services Novices’ Handicap Chase – 2m4f

CLOUDY WEDNESDAY was really well-suited to a strong pace when scoring quite comfortably at Fakenham and in what looks a weak race, he could add to that tally here. BARNAY has shown an aptitude for chasing and ran a respectable race when third back over fences last time. He has won off higher marks over hurdles, so he’s favoured by the weights.

Selections: Cloudy Wednesday, Barnay

15.45 – Chillability Ltd Mobile Refrigerated Solutions Handicap Chase – 2m6f

MILANFORD developed into a good novice chaser a couple of seasons ago and although his record has been patchy this last year, he has become dangerously well-treated and could outclass these. FLANN has already proven himself to be a better chaser than a hurdler and ran well when a length second last time when giving the winner a chunk of weight. I can see him going close.

Selections: Milanford, Flann

16.20 – Jumping For Fun Dick Saunders Novices’ Hunters’ Chase – 2m6f

GETTING CLOSER ran poorly when last seen in this sphere but has been in good form between the flags and could be a big player here. His main danger might be HOMME D’UN SOIR, who won his last chase start under rules in Ireland and that was his debut in this sphere. He is clear of these based on official ratings as well.

Selections: Getting Closer, Homme D’Un Soir
