HICKORY turned in a career-best effort when second over C&D in the International Stakes last time and a two pound rise shouldn’t prevent another bold bid to potentially go one better. I respect the claims of STAR OF ORION who is consistent and should be thereabouts once more.

TRUE LEGEND will appreciate the drop in trip after being ridden too aggressively at York last time and remains well-treated on his previous second at Goodwood. PERFECT PLAY has only been out of the frame once since this time last year and is feared under Hayley Turner.

BOTANICAL comfortably went one better at Hamilton after finishing second on debut and ran well behind a warm favourite last time. He should be in the mix, while ELEGANCIA opened her account at Bath last-time-out and could be competitive in this deeper race.

LADY ALARA has been highly tried so far in her career and while she hasn’t figured since finishing third in a Listed event last July, she will find this drop in grade easier and is well handicapped. MAGGIE’S WAY is another dropping in grade and cannot be dismissed.

CAPOTE’S DREAM has been in good form of late and must be considered. REMINDER has won two of her four starts and made a winning handicap debut last time. She could take some beating, while DUSKY LORD is only two pounds higher than when winning the Ayr Silver Cup last year.
