Ascot Betting Preview

13.55 – Interex Group British EBF Crocker Bulteel Maiden Stakes – 6f

SYNDICATED was sent off odds-on favourite on debut to beat Miami Girl and while he could only finish third, the form looks strong as the winner ran well in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. With improvement to come in what isn’t the strongest of maidens, Andrew Balding’s charge could open his account here. HIATUS ran well when fourth on debut at Chelmsford and given the first and third have won since, he could pose a threat in the opener now switched to the turf.

Selections: SYNDICATED, HIATUS

14.30 – John Guest Racing British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes (GBB Race) – 6f

Andrew Balding’s CLOCHETTE looked an above-average filly when an unlucky half-a-length second on debut at Newbury just over three weeks ago and would have won without meeting trouble in-running at one point. She would have won quite comfortably otherwise, so with plenty of improvement in the locker, she’s strongly fancied to make amends and confirm her superiority over the third from that Newbury race, Aunt Violet.

Selections: CLOCHETTE

15.05 – John Guest Racing Brown Jack Handicap – 1m7f

MOSTLY CLOUDY is going from strength-to-strength and overcame a significant bump to complete the four-timer at Doncaster three weeks ago. He’s up in grade off a six pounds higher mark, but he should continue his good run of form here. SINGLE wasn’t suited to different tactics at Chester last time and while she was behind Speedo Boy here last year, she’s weighted to bridge the gap on better terms here this time round.

Selections: MOSTLY CLOUDY, SINGLE

15.40 – John Guest Racing Handicap – 1m3f

JEREMIAH was very smart when formerly trained by Charlie Fellowes’ and proved he retains most of his ability when ninth on return on stable debut three weeks ago. He was also successful over course-and-distance in this grade around this time two years ago off this exact mark at this level. If he can build on that latest return today, he’s surely going to be competitive in this event with Tom Marquand booked to ride too.

Selections: JEREMIAH

16.15 – AllInTheRace Ascot Lady Amateur Riders’ Handicap – 7f

TRAIS FLUORS has been disappointing the last two times but the last time he competed over this trip, resulted with a close-up third at Redcar off a four pounds higher mark. If he can put aside those latest performances, he should do well in this race. GLOBAL ESTEEM ran well on stable debut at this course last time when fourth and is only a pound above his last winning mark here. With the form of his latest fourth boosted by the third, he’s a danger back over this shorter distance.

Selections: TRAIS FLUORS, GLOBAL ESTEEM

16.50 – Slingsby Gin Handicap – 1m3f

TRUE COURAGE could only manage third last time but he was second over course-and-distance last year off a four pounds higher mark and this is a lot easier. He needs to bounce back from his latest performance but this track clearly suits and is Michael Bell’s only runner on the card. If he can match the form he showed here last year, it will be a surprise if he’s not at least in the first three at the finish.

Selections: TRUE COURAGE
