York Place 6 Preview | 13th June

13.50 Queen Mother’s Cup Handicap

CHILLINGHAM was awarded this race last year (initially finished second) and is back to try and defend his crown. He’s 6lb lower in the handicap this time, so despite running poorly here last time, he can go well. DUNKELD DREAMER should make a bold bid, while HUMBLE PARK is another to consider off a handy mark.

Tips: CHILLINGHAM, DUNKELD DREAMER & HUMBLE PARK

I really like the chances of AALTO, who came very close to landing back-to-back Bunbury Cup’s last July off a 5lb higher figure and is handicapped to have a big say in the matter. He is down in grade and is reunited with Ryan Moore, so he could be about to make a serious impact with plenty in his favour. The unbeaten EXTREMELY ZAIN is of interest on handicap debut.

Tips: AALTO & EXTREMELY ZAIN

15.00 Sky Bet Race To The Ebor Grand Cup Stakes

I really like the chances of EPIC POET, who has some excellent efforts to his name, including placing in the last two renewals of the Yorkshire Cup here. His latest fourth at Sandown was also another solid display despite not having the clearest of runs. With Ryan Moore taking over in the saddle, this consistent seven-year-old can gain an overdue success for David O’Meara.

Tips: EPIC POET

RED SPELLS DANGER caught the eye on his first couple of career starts at this venue and goes for a hat-trick of wins following victories at Ripon and Hamilton. This is a step up in grade but he’s going from strength-to-strength and might be able to defy his 10lb higher mark. THUNDER CALL won easily at Kempton and has more to come on his first handicap start.

Tips: RED SPELLS DANGER & THUNDER CALL

16.15 EBF Maiden Stakes

Charlie Appleby has an unbelievable record with his two-year-old runners, so debutant INNER CITY BLUES is sure to be popular. STARDOM GLORY ran a race full of promise when second over C&D three weeks ago and is likely to capitalise if the favourite doesn’t succeed. Both are covered in the penultimate event on the ticket.

Tips: INNER CITY BLUES & STARDOM GLORY

16.50 Ice Co Supporting Macmillan Handicap

FINANCER placed several times last season, including when second at this venue off a 7lb higher mark. His latest fourth at Ripon was a good effort and another bold effort looks firmly on the cards. PEARL EYE won comfortably at Hamilton just nine days ago and is weighted to have another say in the matter.

Tips: FINANCER & PEARL EYE
