13.50 Andy Thornton Hospitality Furniture Apprentice Handicap

JANNA’S JOURNEY is back down to her last winning mark and finished an unlucky sixth of 17 in a much stronger race here in October. She’s 8lb lower in the handicap now, so I fancy her to run a big race having caught the eye at Carlisle last time out.

QUEST FOR FUN has bags of course experience and finished third over C&D last time off this mark. He should be able to have a say in the outcome. I really like the chances of both of these in the opener.

14.25 Constant Security Keeping York Racegoers Safe Rous Selling Stakes

FUTURRA has gone from strength-to-strength and overcame a troubled passage to comfortably open the account at Musselburgh when last seen. This youngster has a massive chance with more to come.

TAMAM STAR is another that has progressed and should be able to get involved given how shrewd his handler is.

15.00 British EBF Fillies’ Handicap

COTAI BELLE finished a good second at Ripon when last seen and has only been raised a pound, so she could make an impact despite moving back up in grade.

SPLISH SPLASH has been highly tried since scoring at Haydock last October, including when third in a Listed event. I think a mark of 85 has underestimated her, so she can go well with her sights lowered.

15.35 Juddmonte EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes

BIG NEGOTIATOR appeals the most to me. Even though she has returned a beaten favourite on both outings to date, she has displayed good speed each time and this track could be right up her street. She is an interesting Irish raider and could well make it third time lucky with her experience to draw upon.

16.10 Sky Bet The World’s Gone Football Handicap

CITY OF DELIGHT has some decent form in the book and he ran a solid race when second at Goodwood last time out despite proving no match for the winner. He could be thereabouts.

DARK MOON RISING has run some good races over C&D and is lurking on a dangerous mark, while the hat-trick seeking ANTIPODES is another to consider with improvement forthcoming.

16.45 Dawson Williamson Architects Handicap

ADALIDA did very well to get herself out of trouble and win going away at Lingfield last month and must be considered a major player with no weight on her back.

STRAIGHT AHEAD won back-to-back races at Newcastle late last year and shaped very nicely on his return when fourth at Thirsk. With that run under his belt, I can see him having a huge say in the outcome.
