POINT LOUISE has won over C&D off a much higher mark than today’s, which was in fact the last time she was seen at the course and, having been thereabouts in her last two starts, she has to be considered a major player in this race. LADY ZIANA has yet to taste success but went close last time on the turf and has a chance under the assistance of Harry Davies here, who takes off three-pounds.

Ian Williams’ GOZO has displayed promise in finishing fourth in both starts to date with the latest of those looking a strong piece of form in the context of this assignment. The combination of the drop in grade and switch to this surface could have a positive effect and, if it does, he could pose a threat from a good draw in stall six.

DIVINA GRACE was well beaten in a Group Three last-time-out, in which I fancied her to run a big race, but this is a lot easier and she drops significantly in grade here. Rae Guest’s filly retains potential and has the box seat in stall 1, so in the hope all is well with her after that latest disappointment, she is fancied to get back to winning ways on her nursery debut.

SAMARA STAR has finished last in both her latest starts but she drops down to this grade for the first time since winning on debut and has been given a good chance by the assessor, though she needs to bounce back. ARABIST has yet to win in handicap company but he wasn’t discredited at Southwell last time and isn’t out of this if able to build on that latest display from a workable mark here.

19.30 – Sky Sports Racing HD Virgin 535 Handicap – 7f
AL SHIBLI ran a promissong race on his all-weather debut when fourth at Kempton and had Brains in behind in that race. He travelled noticeably well and kept on well in the closing stages, while his easy victory over I’m A Gambler at Chester last year is quality form, as the runner-up won a valuable handicap in Ireland over the weekend off a mark of 106. On that evidence, he’s thrown in here off 82 and, with Dane O’Neill in the saddle, he is taken to make a mockery of his initial mark from a good draw in stall two as well.

GLOBAL EFFORT should be good enough to go close here. He placed in all three previous starts, including at this course last time, and he looks a key player from a nice draw in stall five. SHE’S CENTIMENTAL shaped promisingly when runner-up on debut at Southwell and could go on better with normal progression to come.
