Wincanton Place 6 preview | 5th April

13.40 – Irish Store Sales With Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Mares’ Handicap Chase – 3m1f

WOULDUBEWELL has been majorly disappointing the last twice but the form of her three previous chases reads well and she isn’t out of this. EMMPRESSIVE LADY won at Bangor last time and could follow-up, while SHIROCCO’S DREAM can be excused for her latest run at Taunton and has a chance.

Selections: Wouldubewell, Emmpressive Lady, Shirocco’s Dream

14.15 – Respect In Racings Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m5f

LONGSHANKS ran poorly last time but was in the process of running a huge race against an odds-on favourite on his penultimate start at this course and a repeat of that form should see him go well. GREAT OCEAN won here over hurdles last year and despite unseating his rider last time at Doncaster, he could bounce back.

Selections: Longshanks, Great Ocean

14.50 – Chard Novices’ Handicap Chase – 2m4f

HARD FROST could be the answer to this moderate contest. This six-year-old has finished second in two of his last three starts and was only beaten a nose last time. A similar showing in this contest should see him go one better, while ITHAKA won comfortably at this course last time and is next best.

Selections: Hard Frost, Ithaka

15.25 – Blackmore Vale Hurdle 1867 ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle – 1m7f

Nicky Henderson’s BOOM BOOM placed in both bumper starts and although he has let his supporters down in both starts hurdles since, he was in the process of running a solid race last time before his departure. Nevertheless, this is his easiest assignment over hurdles, so he should take a lot of beating granted a clear round.

Selections: Boom Boom

16.00 – Blackmore Vale Hurdle 1867 ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle – 1m7f

GALLOPADE won twice in bumpers and was a tad unfortunate to not collect a decent pot two weeks ago, where he travelled best and would have won with a better jump at the last hurdle when clear. This race is easier and, with Harry Cobden maintaining the ride, he is fancied to open his account over hurdles.

Selections: Gallopade

16.35 – Irish Store Sales With Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – 1m7f

LADY ADARE lost her unbeaten record when down the field at Taunton last month but has had a breathing operation since and she had previously won her first three starts in this sphere. She is fancied to resume her progress despite her big-weight, while AMELIA’S DANCE ran well on her previous start over C&D and could go well at large odds.

Selections: Lady Adare, Amelia’s Dance
