Wincanton Place 6 preview | 27th March

13.30 – Xtratherm & CRS Maiden Hurdle – 1m7f

BRENTFORD HOPE competed in various pattern-class events on the Flat, rated as high as 107, and has finished second in all three starts over hurdles. His trainer has made a great start to his training career and this stable debutant is strongly fancied to open his account in this sphere. A worthy favourite.

Selections: BRENTFORD HOPE

14.00 – CRS & Palfinger UK Handicap Hurdle – 2m3f

SILENT REVOLUTION could only finish fourth last time but this race is easier and his mark has dropped 3Ib. He won twice as a novice and could resume his progress with the longer trip possibly going to suit. HITITI has been hit with a 9Ib rise for winning by 12 lengths last time but that seems fair and he could follow up.

Selections: SILENT REVOLUTION, HITITI

14.30 – CRS And Adams Morey Handicap Chase – 1m7f

CALGARY TIGER is two-from-two in this sphere and scored emphatically at Newbury last time when winning by more than nine lengths. He has a 10Ib rise to contend with but he’s clearly thriving in this sphere and the hat-trick could well be on the cards. TEXARD is 3Ib below his last winning mark and could go well at large odds in first-time headgear.

Selections: CALGARY TIGER, TEXARD

15.00 – CRS & Westexe Veterans’ Handicap Chase – 3m1f

PEMBERLEY has been well held in his three starts this year but his second in last year’s Sussex National off an 11Ib higher mark is good form and he would have outstanding claims if able to reproduce that sort of form here. WEST APPROACH is now a teenager and is past his best but has the class to still be extremely competitive in this uninspiring event.

Selections: PEMBERLEY, WEST APPROACH

15.30 – CRS & MDM Timber Mares’ Handicap Chase – 2m4f

AUDITORIA won with quite a bit in hand when opening her account over fences at Taunton last week and despite carrying a penalty, she is fancied to go close again with her trainer Olly Murphy continuing in fantastic form of late. STAMINA CHOPE is 2Ib below his last winning mark and should also be competitive.

Selections: AUDITORIA, STAMINA CHOPE

16.00 – CRS & IBMG Handicap Hurdle – 1m7f

WESTERN GENERAL pulled clear with another unexposed sort at Taunton a fortnight ago and that form has worked out extremely well with the winner scoring again since. He should have more to come, while REWIRED showed improved form to return to winning ways at Wincanton just over three weeks ago and should be hard to beat.

Selections: WESTERN GENERAL, REWIRED
