Hexham Place 6 preview | 28th March

14.15 – Phil Addison 60th Birthday Celebration Novices’ Hurdle – 2m7f

Just a match-race for the opener but GROVE ROAD is likely to start favourite, who has made a fine start to his Rules career, winning all three starts, including twice over hurdles and is hard to oppose under favourable conditions. Just in case the unexpected happens, WELL DICK is included. He won on similar ground on his penultimate start and is better then he showed last time.

Selections: GROVE ROAD, WELL DICK

14.45 – Mick Walsh Open Ditch Handicap Chase – 3m

I am keen to take on the favourite here with GIPSY LEE ROSE, who is better off at the weights with the winner this time and the nine-year-old has won over C&D as well. She is a pound below her last successful mark and should reach the frame at least. KAPHUMOR was pulled up last time (burst blood vessel) but ran well in a better race on his penultimate start when third and has a good chance on these terms.

Selections: GIPSY LEE ROSE, KAPHUMOR

15.15 – Download The NE-Bet App Today Handicap Hurdle – 2m

WEWILLGOWITHPLANB made a successful chase debut when last seen and, from only a 2Ib higher mark, he merits consideration. BINGOO has two wins and four placed efforts to his name and is unbeaten in two starts here. He has to be considered a threat on handicap debut, while BENITO and FOR THREE cannot be ruled out either.

Selections: WEWILLGOWITHPLANB, BINGOO, BENITO, FOR THREE

15.45 – Linda Elphicks 65th Birthday Celebration Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f

MARTY TIME ran a very nice race when third on handicap debut last month at Leicester and off only a pound higher mark here, Sue Smith’s charge has a fair chance. GOLAN CLOUD won over C&D in 2021 and stepped up on his reappearance when fourth two months ago. He must be a player from a 5Ib lower mark than when last successful, which was here.

Selections: MARTY TIME, GOLAN CLOUD

16.15 – Langley Castle An Outstanding Small Hotel Handicap Chase – 2m4f

CHAMERON is a horse who’s always had a fair amount of ability and has placed in all of his last four starts under rules, including twice at Down Royal this year. His mark is higher back in the UK but he’s one of the leading players. HIGH MOON comes here in good form as well with five consecutive placed efforts under his belt and drops in grade from a 3Ib lower mark. He is the obvious threat.

Selections: CHAMERON, HIGH MOON

16.45 – Horslyx Balanced Nutritional Support Open Maiden NH Flat Race – 2m

A tricky race to assess with all but one of these making their rules debut. However, COURT CASE is an interesting prospect and his trainer Rebecca Menzies has her team in very good form lately as well. He might offer some value, while CHARLIE’S NUMBERS has a nice pedigree and Brian Hughes is a positive jockey booking too.

Selections: COURT CASE, CHARLIE’S NUMBERS
