Wetherby Place 6 preview | 29th February
14.15 – wetherbyracing.co.uk Novices’ Hurdle
With some of the best form on offer, MAGICAL KING should be going close to taking the opener here. He has made the frame in three of his five starts and will appreciate the drop in grade, so he should, at the very least, make the frame.
Tips: MAGICAL KING

ALI STAR BERT has been in good form recently, winning two of his last three starts and could score again. Meanwhile, LE GRAND VERT is lurking on a dangerous mark at present and would have strong claims if able to stage a repeat of last year’s second at Newcastle.
Tips: ALI STAR BERT, LE GRAND VERT

WRECKLESS ERIC shaped very promisingly when second on his hurdles debut at Newbury and must have an excellent chance of going one place better. This is an easier race, and his trainer, Ben Pauling, could hardly be in better form.
Tips: WRECKLESS ERIC

EATON COLLINA absolutely hosed up by 25 lengths over C&D last time out, where his jumping was electric, and the nine-year-old may well follow-up for the in-form Kerry Lee team. I wouldn’t rule out a positive showing from PLACENET who is fitted with first-time cheekpieces.
Tips: EATON COLLINA, PLACENET
16.35 – Wetherby’s Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Handicap Hurdle
UNCLE BERT ran a solid race when second at Chepstow last time out, and a conditional can offset 7Ib, so he’s one to consider. THE FOUR SIXES wasn’t behind WAR SOLDIER when third over C&D last time out and could bridge the gap on these better terms.
Tips: UNCLE BERT, THE FOUR SIXES, WAR SOLDIER

HERITIER finished second at Sedgefield last time out, and now that he’s back over hurdles with a lower mark and an easier grade, he should be hard to beat. SAILED AWAY should be suited to the drop in distance and could pose a serious threat.
Tips: HERITIER, SAILED AWAY
