Taunton Place 6 preview | 8th December

12.28 – Kings College Taunton Selling Hurdle – 2m

WAJASHA is very useful in this sphere and capitalised on a drop in grade in November, where he clearly retained most of his ability for his Irish handler. He has a good record over hurdles and is the one to beat with more to come under his five-pound claimer. He can take the opener at the expense of Poseidon.

Selections: WAJASHA

13.00 – Barry’s Sark To Cheltenham Bee Keeper Novices’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m

BALIYAD has run well in defeat the last two times and, with a lot of his rivals having plenty to prove, this is a good chance for him to go one better. FORCE DE FRAP shaped a lot better than the beaten margin indicated last time and, with the prospect of more to come, he could get involved too in this weak contest.

Selections: BALIYAD, FORCE DE FRAP

13.35 – Taunton Rotary Centenary Novices’ Hurdle

RUBAUD was highly tried on his stable debut in the Grade Two Adonis and while he could only finish eighth, he easily got off the mark over course-and-distance last month. With his best days ahead of him and despite coming up against the classy Brentford Hope, this four-year-old has to be considered a huge player here.

Selections: RUBAUD

14.08 – Dave Criddle Travel Handicap Chase

Paul Nicholls’ HUELGOAT won his first four starts over fences and a bad blunder four out last time proved costly when attempting the five-timer here last month, yet he still finished a solid third. He should be better over this shorter distance, so he’s worth another chance in the hope he can keep the errors at bay with a lot more to come.

Selections: HUELGOAT

14.38 – Classic Collection Holidays Handicap Hurdle

Nicky Henderson’s HYLAND has won two of his last four starts and should be ready to run a big race on his return to action despite shouldering top-weight. Paul Nicholls’ MAGISTRATO hasn’t yet delivered on the promise he showed when fourth in a Grade Two last November but he still has time on his side and could be a threat now he has his sights lowered.

Selections: HYLAND, MAGISTRATO

15.08 – Jetset Flights & Holidays Novices’ Handicap Chase – 2m7f

AIRTOTHETHRONE has been quite solid in defeat in all four starts under rules, including when third on his chase debut last time at Ludlow. This is an ordinary race, so it’s possible Tom Vaughan’s charge will improve from that initial promise and make an impact here. It’s hard to see him out of the frame.

Selections: AIRTOTHETHRONE
