Southwell betting tips

16.45 – Heed Your Hunch At Betway Handicap – 1m4f

Although burdened with top-weight, MUKHA MAGIC, has often kept stronger company than this over the course of the past twelve months and hasn’t competed in this grade since completing a hat-trick over C&D in March last year.

He’s three from three over track and trip and boasts excellent form figures of 11123 here. From a 3Ib lower mark and a drop down in class, he should be able to utilise this easier opportunity to good effect.

Of the remainder, James Ferguson’s only runner of the day ARABIAN KING has C&D winning form and won three of his six races last year. He will appreciate the drop in grade and is my second choice.

Selections: MUKHA MAGIC, ARABIAN KING

17.15 – Bombardier Handicap – 7f

LOVE YOUR WORK returned to form when a very good second over C&D last time and the form has worked out well with the winner going close form a mark of 82 since. This four-time C&D winner is only 2Ib above his last winning mark and looks the one to beat.

LEGAL REFORM didn’t do a lot wrong when second over C&D behind a horse who was rated 75 at the time and, granted similar tactics under Jason Hart, the four-year-old should be able to pose a bigger impact and is included in our Southwell betting tips.

Selections: LOVE YOUR WORK, LEGAL REFORM

17.45 – Betway Novice Stakes – 6f

He’s likely to be sent off at prohibitive odds but impressive Newcastle winner CRAVED is difficult to oppose on these terms and is fancied to follow-up that latest success providing he handles the fibresand.

The son of Kodiac will be my only representative in this event given the remainder of the field would need to improve significantly on what they have shown to date to get competitive.

Selections: CRAVED

18.15 – Betway Casino Handicap – 2m

RAFIOT powered away to a convincing victory on his first visit here last month. He’s up in trip on this occasion but should have plenty more to offer and looks the solid option with the promising Rhys Clutterbuck, who was onboard for that latest win, taking the reins again.

SOCIAL CITY secured back-to-back victories at this venue in December and remains on a workable mark, while ALFREDO chased home Thai Terrier when last in action and could reverse the form on these better terms.

Selections: RAFIOT, SOCIAL CITY, ALFREDO

18.45 – Betway Handicap – 4f

ANOTHER ANGEL did well under the circumstances to finish third in a handicap at this course seven days ago and can be expected to be thereabouts with a similar performance.

His stablemate, SLOWMO, has plenty of course form including a win over C&D and should be able to gain revenge on Scale Force being much better off at the weights.

Selections: ANOTHER ANGEL, SLOWMO

19.15 – Play Ladbrokes 5-A-Side On Football Handicap – 7f

IT’S A LOVE THING ran a promising race to finish second at Lingfield 10 days ago and likely to improve on that effort here, so he should go close holding a favourites’ chance.

GLOBAL VISION could only finish sixth when last in action over six-furlongs but will benefit from the return to seven-furlongs and is feared most under Paul Mulrennan.

Selections: IT’S A LOVE THING, GLOBAL VISION
