Southwell Place 6 preview | 16th December

13.25 – BetUK’s Acca Club 5 Free Bet Apprentice Handicap – 6f

WALKING ON CLOUDS displayed some really consistent form when trained in Ireland and has shaped well in both starts for Grant Tuer. He was second at Newcastle on stable debut before being given far too much to do when fifth of 14 over the same C&D two weeks ago, where he finished with lots of running left. He could prove tough to stop here.

Selections: WALKING ON CLOUDS

14.00 – It’s Time To Turn To talkSPORT Nursery – 6f

OK PAL was pulled out of a race a few days ago in favour of this event and ran a very solid race when second at Chelmsford last time. He has improved with each start and Dougie Costello retains the ride. With plenty more to come, and a nice draw in stall six, he could be capable of going one place better here.

Selections: OK PAL

14.35 – BetUK Over 40,000 Live Streamed Races Handicap – 4f

STONE OF DESTINY has ultimately been a very difficult horse to predict and needs plenty of luck in-running but he’s a talented horse in his day and wasn’t disgraced when sixth over C&D last time. He is drawn nicely in stall three, is on a career-low mark and Jason Hart is in the saddle, so the seven-year-old, who is set to carry top-weight, has to enter calculations here.

Selections: STONE OF DESTINY

15.10 – Spreadex Sports Live UK Racing Streaming Handicap – 1m

CROCODILE POWER tends to be quite a strong finisher, so the longer distance here could unlock further improvement having produced a career-best winning performance when last spotted at Newcastle. A wide draw isn’t ideal but John Quinn’s charge still has to be respected given the form he’s in, while PERFECT SWISS had a luckless passage en route to finishing a solid third last time and could be competitive off the same mark here.

Selections: CROCODILE POWER, PERFECT SWISS

15.45 – Huge Daily Boosts Only At BetUK Handicap – 2m2f

I am going to take on the favourite here in favour of two who could make an impact. MAKETH BELIEVETH is back down to his last winning mark and went close on his last start on the all-weather. He isn’t ruled out, while FLINT HILL, the Pontefract specialist, hasn’t had many starts on the all-weather and could get involved here with Graham Lee maintaining the partnership, who has a good record on the six-year-old.

Selections: MAKETH BELIEVETH, FLINT HILL

16.25 – Spreadex Sports Get 50 In Bonuses Handicap – 7f

ANIF won over track and trip two starts back and ran a fine race when third at this course seven days ago. The eight-year-old is firmly in the mix, while ONE MORE DREAM has won three of his last five starts and was unlucky in the run when fourth last time. He should go very well off an unchanged mark and has to be considered a dangerous proposition in this race.

Selections: ANIF, ONE MORE DREAM
