Southwell Place 6 preview | 15th December

14.03 – talkSPORT Download The App Nursery – 4f

COLNAGO returned a beaten favourite in two of his first three starts but has put together two solid second since, including when narrowly touched off by a head at Newcastle last time as he was only edged out in the closing stages. He could finally open his account here.

SUGAR HILL BABE has made the frame in two of her four starts to date and her debut third has worked out well, with the first, second, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh have all advertised the form in some way since. If ready to roll on her return, she could surprise a few at large odds.

Selections: COLNAGO, SUGAR HILL BABE

14.33 – BetUK’s Acca Club 5 Free Bet Handicap – 4f

THE TRON generally goes well at this venue and only found one too good over this track and trip when last seen. He remains six-pound above his last winning mark but he’s run more good races than not since and should run his usual solid race again here.

ENCHANTED NIGHT has lots of speed and ran well when fourth over this course-and-distance last time, which came in a class five event. Off a pound lower mark, dropped in class, she should be on the premises.

Selections: THE TRON, ENCHANTED NIGHT

15.03 – BetUK Over 40,000 Live Streamed Races Handicap – 1m3f

CAPLA BLUE has a wide-enough draw to overcome but she’s now back on a favourable mark, which is a pound lower than when successful at Yarmouth. This filly should appreciate the drop in trip and has a good claimer on his back, who’s prone to winning on big-priced runners.

She could pose a threat, as could THUNDER CAP, who was a solid second at Newcastle last-time-out and should go very well again if able to back that effort up here.

Selections: CAPLA BLUE, THUNDER CAP

15.33 – Huge Daily Boosts Only At BetUK Handicap – 2m

The top-weight SEPTEMBER POWER could only finish seventh at this course nine days ago but the return to this much longer distance could unlock progression from this mare, who has often shaped like she would appreciate it.

She had previously shaped well on her previous attempt over 1m7f in a class five and this race is ultimately easier. If she stays the distance, she should be more than capable of making her presence felt under David Allan here.

Selections: SEPTEMBER POWER

Charlie Appleby’s ELEGANT CHARM could be the answer to this race. She has displayed race-by-race progression and demonstrated a lovely turn of foot to open her account at Kempton last month.

Pocket The Packet to be respected in his current mood but the former is open to a lot more improvement and she’s fancied capitalise on the inside draw in stall one and stop the favourites hat-trick bid in this race.

Selections: ELEGANT CHARM

16.35 – Top Odds Every Day With BetUK Handicap – 6f

TOTAL COMMITMENT has threatened to get back on the scoresheet on a few occasions in recent months and came within a neck of doing so when second last time at Lingfield. The six-year-old remains on the same mark here and his last victory was at this course off an eight-pounds higher mark.

He would only need to repeat his latest effort to go one better in this event. However, BLIND BEGGAR went close on his final start in October in Ireland and will make his stable debut off an attractive mark here, so he too cannot be ruled out with more to offer.

Selections: TOTAL COMMITMENT, BLIND BEGGAR
