Chelmsford City Place 6 preview | 17th December

14.05 – Betfred Merry Christmas Handicap – 1m

EAGLE EYED FREDDIE has been extremely consistent this year for Mick Appleby, only finishing out of the frame twice in nine starts and has made the frame in his last four on the all-weather. He was marginally denied here last week and, from another good draw, another bold effort is surely on the cards.

Selections: EAGLE EYED FREDDIE

14.40 – Betfred Play Fred’s 5 Million Handicap – 7f

The Roger Varian-trained LORD PARAMOUNT shaped well in his first three starts and opened his account nicely at Wolverhampton when last spotted. He makes his handicap debut off a really lenient mark and should have lots more to come. It would be a surprise if he wasn’t able to get into the shake-up in this race.

Selections: LORD PARAMOUNT

15.15 – Betfred Supports Jack Berry House Handicap – 6f

BLACK BOX has yet to get a win under her belt but she’s been mostly consistent in defeat and ran another respectable race when fourth last time. She should be firmly in the mix here, while ELEGANT ELLEN ran well to finish third over C&D just over two weeks ago and is expected to be thereabouts off the same mark here.

Selections: BLACK BOX, ELEGANT ELLEN

15.45 – Betfred Nifty Fifty Maiden Stakes – 6f

This race is pretty wide-open but HEY LYLA has shown enough form to suggest this might be her turn to get on the scoresheet. She is likely to be given an attacking ride by Jason Hart and ran well here on her penultimate start when second to an odds-on favourite. A repeat of that performance could be enough to see Mark and Charlie Johnson’s filly take the spoils.

Selections: HEY LYLA

16.15 – Betfred Double Delight Handicap – 5f

JANAAT could surprise a few at large odds in this race. This filly has threatened to come good on more than one occasion over this trip and hasn’t been beaten far the last two times. The assessor has reduced her mark another couple of pounds and David’s son Billy takes off a handy seven-pounds. She could be one to consider.

Selections: JANAAT

16.45 – Betfred TV Handicap – 2m

PARTY PLANNER responded very nicely to this headgear when second at Lingfield when last spotted. Obviously an absence since isn’t ideal but she might be able to improve on that display if the headgear works second time round. Her second at Southwell around this time last year off a mark of 58 was solid and that form entitles her to major respect in this race.

Selections: PARTY PLANNER
