Ripon Place 6 preview | 7th August

14.45 – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes – 6f

NIGHTEYES sets a good standard on her runner-up effort at York last month and has now finished second in her last three starts. She should be extremely competitive, while ROAST CHESTNUT ran a promising debut race when fifth at Windsor and has plenty more to come, so she could be set to build on that here.

Tips: NIGHTEYES, ROAST CHESTNUT

15.20 – Andy & Jacquie Abbott Ruby-Wedding Anniversary Novice Stakes – 5f

CORELLIAN STAR has the vital experience on soft ground and has placed in both her starts so far in her career. That isn’t the strongest form in the world but it should be enough to win a race of this nature. She is Archie Watson’s only runner on the card as well.

Tips: CORELLIAN STAR

15.55 – Weatherbys Bloodstock Pro Fillies’ Handicap – 5f

SELBY’S PRIDE has been very disappointing of late but he is three pounds below his last winning mark and has C&D winning form in his inventory. He should go well, as should STAR OF LADY M who is dual winner over C&D on soft ground and has been thereabouts in her last three starts. This is a great opportunity for her to make it three-from-three at her favourite venue.

Tips: SELBY’S PRIDE, STAR OF LADY M

16.30 – Wilmot-Smith Memorial Handicap – 6f

All four of these cannot be ruled out. BAY BREEZE is a three-time C&D winner and handles testing ground. He is a player, while TWELFTH KNIGHT is another C&D winner and is effective on a testing surface, so has a chance. FORTAMOUR won this two years ago and is another with multiple wins over track and trip. He is well-handicapped. FARO DE SAN JUAN acts on heavy ground and completes the field. Any of the quartet can take this.

Tips: BAY BREEZE, FORTAMOUR, TWELFTH KNIGHT, FARO DE SAN JUAN

17.05 – Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate Handicap – 1m1f

ZARABANDA scored for the first time in a handicap at Nottingham off top-weight and has only been nudged up a pound which seems very lenient. She has loads more to come and should be difficult to beat. POET’S DAWN has won over C&D and was a good second at this course last-time-out. He should be thereabouts.

Tips: ZARABANDA, POET’S DAWN

17.40 – Monday 28th Bank Holiday Family Day Handicap – 1m

EASTERN CHARM is unbeaten in two starts on deep ground and completed her hat-trick on the surface when scoring at Sandown just five days ago. She is in the form of her life and, with improvement on the cards, she is fancied to continue her winning streak in this weak race.

Tips: EASTERN CHARM
