Hamilton Place 6 preview | 5th August

18.00 – Jordan Electrics Handicap – 1m1f

STAR OF ST JAMES has run well in defeat the last twice and can now compete in this contest off a pound lower mark when scoring in August last year. He placed off a seven pounds higher mark on soft ground at Nottingham in November and will be hard to beat in this from his reduced mark. TEMPER TRAP loves it here though with four C&D wins to his name and scored in convincing fashion at Doncaster last time.

Tips: Star Of St James, Temper Trap

18.30 – Margaret Smith Memorial Celebrations Handicap – 1m

SHINE ON BRENDAN has a fine record here which reads 6311512422 and is only two pounds higher than when he won at Musselburgh. He is sure to go well in this lower grade than last time, though LOOK BACK SMILING has escaped a penalty for winning easily at Leicester three days ago and will be hard to beat if this doesn’t come too soon.

Tips: Shine On Brendan, Look Back Smiling

19.00 – PDM Buildbase Scotland Handicap – 6f

Since the cheekpieces have been fitted, IMPRESSOR has thrived and won back-to-back races last month before going close back at Beverley four days ago when third. He is the one to beat under Ben Curtis, while WEN MOON returned a good fourth at Chester last time and has winning form on soft ground which is beneficial.

Tips: Impressor, Wen Moon

19.30 – Boe ‘Soba’ Handicap – 5f

PRINCE OF PILLO hasn’t been at his best in three starts this year but won three of his five starts last year, including a Listed race, and could be hard to beat as this represents a major drop in class. SPOOF went close at Windsor last weekend and handles any ground, so he is heavily respected in what is a quality race for the grade.

Tips: Prince Of Pillo, Spoof

20.00 – Gas Call Services Handicap – 1m5f

TWO AULD PALS has been in superb form of late, winning back-to-back events, including over C&D before going close over the same track and trip on similar ground two starts back as well. He has a good chance. FORZA ORTA is the class act in the race though and this former C&D winner will be hard to beat now having his sights lowered.

Tips: Two Auld Pals, Forza Orta

20.30 – MacGregor Flooring Handicap – 1m3f

LINCOLN ROCKSTAR ran a good race when third at Nottingham on soft ground and can compete off the same mark here. She must be considered, as should two-time C&D winner SPANISH HUSTLE who remains on a mark he is capable of defying at this level.

Tips: Lincoln Rockstar, Spanish Hustle
