REVIEWING LAST WEEK’S PICK 15

Last week 3,586 units played for £1,600,000 in the Pick 15 pool. Here we review how the pool went.

Saturday Morning Kick Off

The early Saturday kick off was Everton’s visit to Vicarage Road. Lukaku gave Koeman’s men the lead in the 17th minute. Okaka equalised for the home team just before half time. Two quick fire goals in the 59th and 64th minutes for Prodl and Okaka gave Watford a 3-1 lead. Lukaku scored his second of the game to set up a tense final few minutes, but Watford held on to a 3-2 win.

3,586 units began the pool. This surprise fixture left 815 units in for the jackpot. But all other units were still playing for the £4,000 14/15 consolation prize.

Saturday Afternoon Kick Offs

Six legs of the Pick 15 kicked off at 15:00. Two were Premier League fixtures and four were Championship fixtures.

One of the Premier League fixtures was Swansea vs Sunderland. A ‘relegation six pointer’. An expected tight game opened up when Swansea won a penalty in the 51st minute. The ever reliable Gylfi Sigurdsson dispatched past Jordan Pickford. Three minutes later, Fernando Llorente doubled the Swans’ lead. Llorente finished the scoring with his second of the match in the 80th minute. Three valuable points for Swansea.

Another high scoring game involving Crystal Palace. Hull took the lead from the penalty spot, only for Benteke to equalise from the same penalty spot. Zaha’s goal in the 70th minute, set up a frantic ten minutes for Hull to score in the 72nd and 78th minute. Campbell equalised for Palace in the 89th minute and the points were shared one a piece.

The Championship matched the Premier League with goals flying in across the board. No more so than in Wolves vs Fulham. Wolves opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. Fulham responded with three goals in the 32nd, 29th and 42nd minute. Wolves returned with three goals of their own in the 65th, 74th and 90th minute. Ayite grabbed a point for Fulham with an equaliser and eighth goal of the game in injury time.

  • Reading entertained Sheffield Wednesday. Beerens scored in both the 57th and 76th minutes to give Reading a 2-0 lead. Steven Fletcher pulled one back for Wednesday in the 92nd minute, but Reading won 2-1.
  • Huddersfield looked to end their five game winless run against Bristol City. Kachunga opened the scoring, before Tammy Abraham equalised for Bristol in the 33rd minute. Nahki Wells pounced on a Frank Fielding error to give Huddersfield the 2-1 win.
  • The final Championship 15:00 kick off was between Barnsley and Norwich. Barnsley took a two goal lead through goals from Bradshaw and Hourihane. Nelson Oliveira pulled a consolation goal back for the Canaries as the game finished 2-1 to Barnsley.

Following some shock results in the 15:00 kick offs, 1.75 units remained in the Pick 15 pool. 32.5 units remained in the 14/15 consolation. 223 units remained in the 13/15 consolation and 821 units in the 13/15 consolation.

Saturday Evening Kick Offs

Saturday evening saw a European tour for the Pick 15. Starting at Hertha Berlin vs Werder Bremen. Despite the home team having 59% possession, a Max Kruse goal was enough for the away victory.

Next, at the King Power, where Leicester pulled off a shock high scoring home win. A Jamie Vardy hat-trick and Andy King goal gave the Foxes a 4-0 lead. Kolarov and Nolito pulled two back for the visitors to restore some pride.

Finally to Italy for Sampdoria vs Lazio.  Two goals in four minutes from Savic and Parolo gave Lazio a two goal advantage. Sampdoria brought one back in the 89th minute but it was too late to salvage any points. Lazio winning 2-1.

No remaining units were live in the win or 14/15 consolation. There were 3.22 units playing for £3,000 in the 13/15 consolation. Moreover, 24.7 were playing for £2,000 in the 12/15 consolation.

Sunday Kick Offs

Sunday began in Spain with a match between Eibar and Alaves. In a far from thrilling game, the match ended in a goalless draw.

Two Premier League games kicked off at 14:15 on Sunday. One of which was Southampton vs Middlesbrough. A stunner from Sofiane Boufal gave Southampton a 1-0 win.

The other Premier League game was the meeting of Manchester United and Tottenham. Brought in from the cold, Henrikh Mkhitarayan became the first Armenian Premier League goal-scorer. His goal was the only goal of the match, giving Mourinho a much needed three points.

  • Bayer Leverkusen left it late to pick up a 1-0 victory against Schalke with a goal in the 89th minute.
  • The final game was Real Betis vs Athletic Club, where Betis came out 1-0 winners.

Following Schalke vs Leverkusen there were no units remaining in the 13/15 consolation.

However, 0.35 units remained in the 12/15 consolation after this game. There was just one more leg left- Real Betis vs Athletic Club. Real Betis’ victory resulted in no more live unit in the 12/15 consolation.
