In the opener, ROCK MONTREAL is fancied to see off Nabati and co. I was deeply impressed with the way he justified favouritism on debut at Yarmouth and is well worth his place in this grade. With more to offer, Roger Varian’s charge can extend his unbeaten record.

This is wide-open but CARAGIO could be the one to side with. He was doing his best work at the finish when sixth here last time out and any step forward from that outing could be enough to see him have a say in the outcome.

14.25 Carlsberg Danish Pilsner Flying Childers Stakes (Group 2)

Having finished a very good second at York behind Arapaho Gold in the Group 2 Gimcrack last time out, FINAL OBJECTIVE must have excellent claims with a repeat display. The winner is clearly top-class but this youngster made him fight all the way to the finish and should again be in the mix.

15.00 Betfred Howard Wright Doncaster Cup Stakes (Group 2)

A chance is taken on EPIC POET. He clearly isn’t the force of old but has some very good form to his name, with many placed efforts in Group company and could get an ideal setup. I still think he’s more than capable of at least making the frame in this contest.

15.35 British Stallion Studs EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap

RUBY WEDDING is a filly in fine form at the moment, winning two of her last three starts and was a commanding winner at Salisbury when last seen. This is much tougher, but she’s on the up and can continue her fine sequence with another big performance.

16.10 Coopers EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes

VICTORIA NIGHT came extremely close to scoring on debut at Sandown when only beaten a head by the favourite. She looks sure to have improved for the experience and is fancied to go one place better. Unless one of the newcomers turn out to be above average, she ought to prove hard to beat.
