REVIEWING LAST WEEK’S MILLIONAIRE

Last week the Millionaire jackpot stood at £5,586,656. 24 goals over the six legs of the Millionaire, meant that the pool was not won by any units. We’ll review the action from a blockbuster weekend of football.

Saturday 15:00 Kick Offs

The Millionaire had two legs kicking off at 15:00 on Saturday.

Burnley took on a Bournemouth side buoyant from their victory against Liverpool. A Jeff Hendrick screamer in the 13th minute, followed by Ward three minutes after, brought the away side crashing down. Bournemouth regained hope with Afobe’s goal at the end of the first half. But George Boyd scored Burnley’s third to regain a two goal lead. Charlie Daniel’s 91st minute strike proved nothing more than a consolation goal as Burnley won 3-2.

Another cracker of a game took place in Hull. Snodgrass put the Tiger’s ahead in the 27th minute with a penalty. Benteke then returned fire with a penalty of his own in the 52nd minute. Then the game sprung to life. Zaha scoring in the 70th minute, before Hull retaliated with two goals of their own in the 72nd and 78th. Frazer Campbell’s 89th minute goal proving enough to gain a point for Palace as the score finished 3-3.

Eleven goals in the first two games shook the pool up. 10.3 units had predicted these two high scoring games and were still playing for the jackpot. Whilst, over 27,000 were playing for a £70,191 consolation prize. The entire pool also still eligible to win the 4/6 consolation if they predicted the final 4 legs.

Saturday Evening Kick Off

The Saturday evening kick off took came from the King Power Stadium. Misfiring Leicester hosted Manchester City. After only five minutes, Leicester were 2-0 up with goals from Vardy and King. A third from Vardy in the 20th minute caused flashbacks to the Leicester of last season. Twelve minutes from time, Vardy completed his hat-trick with a finish from the most acute of angles. Kolarov and Nolito regained some pride for Guardiola’s men. The game finished 4-2 to the defending champions.

This result was a shock and eliminated the final 10.3 units from the pool. But, 19.2 units were playing for £70,191 in the 5/6 consolation and 27,346 still live in the 4/6 consolation.

Sunday Fixtures

Sunday saw a visit to the Championship for a fierce East Midlands Derby. An edgy start to the game was broken in the 33rd minute as Derby scored through a Bendtner own goal. A sublime finish from Tom Ince in the 55th doubled Derby’s lead. Will Hughes completed the rout in the 64th minute. Derby came out 3-0 winners and with the bragging rights.

Now 1.75 units remained in the 5/6 consolation and 449 in the 4/6 consolation

The second fixture saw Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur. In a tight game Man United drew first blood in the 29th minute through Mkhitarayan. He became the first Armenian to score in the Premier League. The strike proved to be a decisive one, with United winning the game 1-0.

This eliminated the last units in the 5/6 consolation. 92.6 units remained in the 4/6 consolation. The prize for this was £105,287. Causing some eye watering cash out offers.

Millionaire

This customer was one leg away from the £105,287 prize. They had a cash out offer of £11,101.53, despite correctly selecting only three legs.

Monday Night

The Millionaire pool finished with a Spanish league meeting between Villarreal and Atletico Madrid. Two goals in ten first half minutes gave Villarreal a 2-0 lead going into halftime. Atletico couldn’t find a way through the Villarreal defence. It was Villarreal who scored again in the 92nd minute through Roberto Soriano. The game finished 3-0 to Villarreal.

Following the first goal for Villarreal, 47.8 units remained live for the 4/6 consolation. But the following two goals, eliminated these final units.
