Pontefract Place 6 preview | 9th August

14.20 – Solutions4Cleaning Handicap – 1m2f

JUST HISS is generally consistent at this level and has gone close the last two times after winning at Newcastle the time before that. He might have won last time with a clear run so compensation could await him, while THE NEW MARWAN cashed-in on his reduced mark to score at Wolverhampton last time and has won on the turf off a higher mark before, so he is feared.

Tips: JUST HISS, THE NEW MARWAN

14.50 – Jayne – On Course Lady Bookmaker EBF Maiden Stakes – 6f

ROYAL ZABEEL shaped with lots of promise over track and trip on debut when seventh and would have finished closer with a clear run. Ryan Moore has been booked to ride, so Kevin Ryan’s charge should go very well, while SWEET SOUL MUSIC caught the eye from the back of the field at Beverley to be a staying-on fourth and is sure to progress.

Tips: ROYAL ZABEEL, SWEET SOUL MUSIC

15.20 – Jayne – On Course Lady Bookmaker EBF Maiden Stakes – 6f

The debut effort of POINT GIVEN who was fourth of 12 was promising, as he wasn’t given a hard time of things, more of an education test in all fairness, before picking up well inside the final furlong. He will know more about his job in this contest and this is a rare trip to Pontefract for Ryan Moore, who is 8-35 (35%) here in the last five seasons.

Tips: POINT GIVEN

15.50 – Napoleons Casino Bradford Handicap – 2m1f

Not a bad race this with four course winners in the field and although EL BORRACHO isn’t one of those, the eight-year-old has been running well over hurdles and on the Flat. All of his winning form on the level has been over a slightly shorter distance but this trip could actually bring about improvement. He must be respected with Ryan Sexton claiming three pounds.

Tips: EL BORRACHO, YORKINDNESS

16.20 – RIU Hotels And Resorts Ladies Day Veterans’ Handicap – 1m

TELE RED won his last start over course-and-distance and has been in superb form of late, winning his last couple of starts. A four pound rise for winning easily at York remains generous and he could complete the hat-trick. PERFECT SWISS goes well here and this former C&D winner was unlucky last time when not getting a clear run. He should figure from an unaltered mark. ALEXANDER JAMES is very well-handicapped on past form and must enter calculations on just his second start for this stable.

Tips: TELE RED, PERFECT SWISS, ALEXANDER JAMES

16.50 – FBS Chartered Accountants Chaplins Club Handicap – 5f

KING OF TONGA has a record of two wins and a second from three starts and ran well when second at Beverley eight days ago. He remains on the same mark as when second last-time-out and six pounds below his last winning mark, so he has every chance. THE DUNKIRK LADS remains on a competitive mark and should feature.

Tips: KING OF TONGA, THE DUNKIRK LADS
