Pontefract Place 6 betting preview | August 3rd

Steven Dowler is taking on today’s Place 6 pool at Pontefract. Check out his preview below.

Pontefract Betting Preview

14.20 – Solutions4Cleaning Handicap (Gentleman Amateur Jockeys) – 1m2f

TELE RED was far too keen at Ayr last time but still shaped well to finish sixth and had previously gone close when runner-up at Carlisle and Nottingham in June. If they go a good gallop here, Karl Burke’s charge should be able to get back on track and be competitive in what appears to be a very thin contest.

Selections: TELE RED

14.50 – Jayne – On Course Lady Bookmaker EBF Maiden Stakes (GBB Race) – 6f

STORM VENTURE ran a very promising race when fourth on debut at Chester behind Self Praise. He fared best of the newcomers despite meeting trouble in-running and losing a shoe and, with more to come against easier opponents, he can put that experience to good use and give connections a quick-fire double.

Selections: STORM VENTURE

15.20 – tiesplanet.com – Ladies Love Guys In Ties Handicap – 2m1f

CLIFFS OF DOONEEN was much the best of these a few years ago, in which he was rated as high as 104 and was a fair seventh in the Ascot Stakes two years ago off 94 when trained by Ralph Beckett. He might not be the force of old now but he’s dangerously well-treated at this level and Graham Lee takes the ride. NIKHI beat a useful sort last-time-out and could follow up if in similar form here.

Selections: CLIFFS OF DOONEEN, NIKHI

15.50 – Riu Hotels And Resorts Ladies Day Veterans’ Handicap – 1m

LITTLE JO went close over C&D last year off a nine pounds higher mark when second and shaped well back here last time when fourth. He hasn’t won for a while but has been knocking on the door this year and could be about to cash-in on a reduced mark. TANGLED is also well-treated at present and would have a strong chance of winning off this mark if he gets a clear passage.

Selections: LITTLE JO, TANGLED

16.20 – Bet With Jayne – Your Local Bookmaker Handicap – 1m

RED KITE has put together two solid runs since winning at Brighton and perhaps the first-time blinkers will have a positive effect. He cannot be discounted for his in-form handler. SPARKLE IN HIS EYE has won four of his last seven starts and he wasn’t beaten far at Musselburgh last time. He should continue his good work this year with another bold display under his seven pounds claimer.

Selections: RED KITE, SPARKLE IN HIS EYE

16.50 – FBS Chartered Accountants Chaplins Club Handicap – 5f

SOUL SEEKER hasn’t been seen to the best effect of late but he will find this grade easier and he went close off a mark of 83 at Beverley on his first start this year. If he can reproduce that sort of form in this race, he should, at the very least, go close. RHYTHM was unlucky not to win here back in June when a close-up third after not getting a clear run and could make amends off a two pounds lower mark.

Selections: SOUL SEEKER, RHYTHM
