Newton Abbot Place 6 preview | 21st October

13.05 – Paul And Shauna’s Silver Wedding Celebration Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase – 2m

Last season’s Imperial Cup winner ICEO created a good impression when making a winning chase bow over C&D on his return and is the one to beat. JPR ONE was highly tried on the back of novice hurdle wins last season and should advance his form as a chaser. MONVIEL ran well in both the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury and Imperial Cup at Sandown and is also an interesting chase debutant.

Tips: ICEO, JPR ONE, MONVIEL

13.40 – Talk Tidy Marketing Intermediate Chase – 2m4f

BALLYGRIFINCOTTAGE ran poorly when pulled up the last twice but he still retains potential and this Grade 1-placed individual might get back on track following a wind op and with a good record fresh. COMPLETE UNKNOWN found only Gerri Colombe too strong when second in a Grade 1 at Aintree in April. This is a good opportunity for Paul Nicholls’ charge to gain a third success over the larger obstacles. MIGHT I was a very smart hurdler who cannot be ruled out on his chase debut.

Tips: BALLYGRIFINCOTTAGE, COMPLETE UNKNOWN, MIGHT I

14.15 – British Stallion Studs EBF ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle – 2m

The Paul Nicholls-trained FARNOGE won his only previous start in a bumper, scoring with plenty to spare and, based on that evidence, he is likely to start a warm favourite on hurdles debut here. He has the pedigree and background to really make his mark over hurdles and is therefore strongly fancied to outclass these by justifying favouritism. Anything less will be seen as a major disappointment.

Tips: FARNOGE

14.55 – Racing Partnership Novices’ Handicap Chase – 3m1f

SPORTING ACE has returned a beaten favourite on a few occasions but he has continually held his form well and has placed in four of his five starts this year. He is of interest on his handicap chase debut. CROSSING THE BAR is likely to handle the ground better than most given he has won several times on soft and is respected.

Tips: SPORTING ACE, CROSSING THE BAR

15.35 – Newton Abbot Racecourse On Facebook Handicap Hurdle – 3m2f

WEST TO THE BRIDGE has an excellent record when the ground is soft or worse and also won over C&D a couple of seasons ago off this exact mark. His fitness can prove the difference over Itchy Feet and should go close. Of the rest, I’ll include WHITEHOTCHILLIFILLI has a good record fresh and whilst her finishing efforts aren’t always the strongest, she has a chance.

Tips: WEST TO THE BRIDGE, WHITEHOTCHILLIFILLI

16.15 – Atkinson Celebrating Happy Retirement Day Handicap – 2m5f

HASTY PARISIAN is a consistent horse, who is proven on deep ground and should again be thereabouts from a handy mark. Paul Nicholls’ INDIVIDUALISTE made no mistake in winning on his second start over hurdles and should be tough to overhaul.

Tips: HASTY PARISIAN, INDIVIDUALISTE
