Plumpton Place 6 preview | 23rd October

14.15 – Trottenden Sussex Cattle Novices’ Hurdle – 1m7f

WESTERN SOLDIER won five races in succession on the Flat last year in Germany and despite returning a beaten favourite, he finished a close-up third on hurdles debut. With plenty of room for improvement, Milton Harris and Johnny Burke can land the opener.

Tips: WESTERN SOLDIER

14.45 – Southern Cranes & Access Ltd Novices’ Handicap Chase – 3m1f

HIGHLAND STING was well beaten last time after attracting early support but this is a mediocre race and this Irish raider should be going close. REDBRIDGE ROSIE has placed in her last couple of starts and will be in receipt of weight from her three rivals, so she should be competitive. Grade-dropper KADEX can also be shortlisted.

Tips: HIGHLAND STING, REDBRIDGE ROSIE, KADEX

15.15 – Summertree Novices’ Handicap Hurdle – 1m7f

A very thin race but EMBOLDEN has four placed efforts and a win to his name this year and is likely to put in another good effort. STAR LEGEND has made the frame in three of his five starts in this sphere and is the biggest danger to the former. It’s hard to be confident about the remainder.

Tips: EMBOLDEN, STAR LEGEND

15.45 – Nick Embiricos Memorial Handicap Chase – 2m3f

LORD BADDESLEY has a record of F113 at this course and ran well in a tougher race than this last time when third. He has a good record fresh, as proven when second to Knappers Hill on his return last year and his trainer won this last year too, so he’s a major contender and my best bet on the card.

Tips: LORD BADDESLEY

16.15 – Bet Goodwin Handicap Hurdle – 1m7f

FOR PLEASURE – Alex Hales’ front-running eight year old, has been out of sorts for a while now but he was sent off just 7/1 for last year’s Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival and is a former Grade 2 winner in this sphere. Rated as high as 145 at the peak in this sphere, he can outrun his odds. Warwick winner UGGY UGGY UGGY also merits an interest.

Tips: FOR PLEASURE, UGGY UGGY UGGY

16.45 – Back British Farming Handicap Chase – 2m3f

EN COEUR has four course wins to his name and ran well enough when third last time. He is two pounds below his last winning mark and should be competitive. JACK DOYEN beat a higher-rated horse last time at Warwick and must have a good chance of following-up with that win under his belt.

Tips: EN COEUR, JACK DOYEN
