Having made the frame in a pair of Flat maidens, GOLDEN PATH created a deep impression when making a winning hurdling/stable debut over C&D by five and a half lengths. The runner-up has subsequently let the form down, but Evan Williams’ charge is open to plenty more improvement and should be hard to beat.

With lots of course form in her book, the nine-year-old KARANNELLE might be the one to side with here. Her last four placed efforts over C&D have come off marks of 99 (2nd), 100 (2nd), 98 (3rd), and 97 (2nd), so she’s well-treated off 90 at present and finds herself only 2lb higher than when last successful.

KONIGON ISABELLA only had a neck to spare when opening her account over this C&D last time out, but she would have won easier without being short of room two out. A 4lb rise might not be enough to prevent her from going in again while the iron is hot. She is improving with each start and must have an excellent chance.

WAVERING DOWN has placed in four of her last five starts, and her last victory was gained at this venue. She remains 5Ib higher than when she scored here, but she hardly runs a bad race and should be thereabouts.

ZHANG FEI shaped nicely when fourth at Stratford last time out and would have finished much closer without stumbling before the third last flight. The handicapper has dropped her 1lb and Fern O’Brien can claim an additional 7lb, so there’s every chance she will be competitive.

16.45 Mark And Vicky Golden Wedding Celebration Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase
DRIPSEY MOON fared pretty well in Grade 1 and Grade 2 races over hurdles last season and went close to making a winning chase debut at Uttoxeter three weeks ago. Donald McCain’s charge should prove even more effective over this longer trip, so he’s fancied to go one better.
