Newton Abbot Place 6 preview | 14th June

14.00 – newtonabbotracing.com Novices’ Handicap Chase – 3m1f

HENERYETTA BAY scored from the front in good style at Huntingdon 16 days ago and although she is 3Ib higher in this contest, she must go close with a similar performance. WILDFIRE WARRIOR hasn’t made much impact to date but is still rated higher than the front pair in the market and should come good at some point.

Tips:  Heneryetta Bay, Wildfire Warrior

14.30 – Talk Tidy Marketing Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m2f

KOMEDY KICKS has made giant strides for this yard, winning two of her four hurdle starts and there was lots to like about her attitude at Stratford 11 days ago. She’s highly respected back in a handicap with Harry Cobden retained to ride. MAGICAL MAGGIE has also won two of her last four starts and is only up 2Ib for the latest of her wins, so she’s respected.

Tips: Komedy Kicks, Magical Maggie

15.05 – Newton Abbot Racecourse On Facebook Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle – 2m

MYRISTICA built on her highly-promising hurdles debut second at Worcester when winning on the bridle at Southwell last month by 14 lengths. I know she has to carry a hefty penalty this time with Tique recognised as the main threat, but she could rank higher for connections and is strongly fancied to double her tally before moving up the ranks at some stage this year.

Tips: Myristica

15.40 – Peninsula Finance PLC Handicap Chase – 2m

MAGIC SAINT is a class act on his day and even though he returned a beaten favourite last time, he didn’t disgrace himself in second. If the first-time blinkers help, he could be a serious player but he will need to be at his best to beat LIGHT N STRIKE, who trounced a decent field at Warwick three weeks ago and is clearly at the top of his game at the moment. The seven-year-old should take all of the beating if turning up in similar form in this contest.

Tips: Magic Saint, Light N Strike

16.10 – Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap Chase – 2m

OPENING BID won over hurdles in December and placed three times before scoring over fences at Worcester nearly three weeks ago. I think he will go close to winning this contest unless PRINCESS MIDNIGHT builds on her excellent return second at Stratford. She is extremely consistent and can be tough to pass. She has to be the alternative choice in case the favourite underperforms.

Tips: Opening Bid, Princess Midnight

16.40 – Peninsula Finance PLC Handicap Hurdle – 2m

MUTUAL RESPECT finds it difficult to win, hence why he’s winless in 19 starts but ran a decent race when last seen to finish second and has a fair chance in this weak contest. VIN ROUGE shouldn’t be far away either, who has a good jockey on his back and wasn’t disgraced when third last-time-out. He is also included.

Tips: Mutual Respect, Vin Rouge
