Newmarket Win 6 preview | 4th May
13.45 Betfred Pretty Polly Stakes (Fillies’ Listed)
FALAKEYAH could hardly have been more impressive when streaking clear on debut at Wolverhampton and should take plenty of beating with big targets to come.
The unbeaten TRAD JAZZ is another to consider, while LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL has done little wrong in two starts to date on the all-weather and could go well.
Tips: FALAKEYAH, TRAD JAZZ & LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
14.20 Betfred Dahlia Stakes (Fillies’ And Mares’ Group 2)
This can go to CINDERELLA’S DREAM. A Grade 1 winner in the US, she was unlucky not to win last time out in Meydan, but she will be fitter than her two market rivals, and has so much more to come back in the UK.
She was behind Elmalka in the Guineas last season, but she’s strengthened since, and I’m hopeful she will turn the form around, with plenty in her favour. The best bet on the card for me.
Tips: CINDERELLA’S DREAM
14.55 Betfred Handicap (Heritage Handicap)
KIHAVAH is in the form of his life and was last seen showing grit and determination to win the Queen’s Cup at Musselburgh.
He has to shoulder a penalty on this occasion, but none of the others make any of appeal on recent evidence, so he’s one to definitely consider.
ALIGN THE STARS would have a squeak if back to some of his best form from last season, so he’s included for back-up purposes.
Tips: KIHAVAH & ALIGN THE STARS
15.35 Betfred 1000 Guineas Stakes
It is difficult to split DESERT FLOWER and LAKE VICTORIA, who are both undefeated, and have four Group 1s between them. Both have course winning form as well, so I’ll just add in both of them.
ELWATEEN is interesting on just her second start though and brings untapped potential to the table. She won in good style on debut at Kempton last August and could outrun her odds.
Tips: DESERT FLOWER, LAKE VICTORIA & ELWATEEN
16.10 Tattersalls 40,000 EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes
Charlie Appleby’s TWILIGHT STAR looked awkward when third over C&D on debut, but should know more today, and has leading claims with that experience under her belt.
George Boughey and Roger Varian are no strangers to success with debutants though, so LITTLE HAVANA and MOIRA EXPRESS must be respected. SPICY MARG for Michael Bell cannot be ruled out either.
Tips: TWILIGHT STAR, LITTLE HAVANA, MOIRA EXPRESS & SPICY MARG
16.45 Tattersalls Online 40,000 EBF Novice Stakes
FRENCH AFFAIR is related to several nice types and Richard Hannon has done well with his youngsters at this meeting down the years, so he could go well at fair odds.
Moonfall bumped into one when runner-up over C&D on his debut and should improve but RISING POWER represents a stable in good form.
This expensive yearling has a good chance of winning this, especially when you consider the fact that Charlie Appleby has won with two of his three newcomers so far this season.
Tips: FRENCH AFFAIR & RISING POWER
