He had previously shaped well on his three previous turf outings and could be burly treated on handicap debut off a mark of 78. Oisin Murphy will ride.

MIDNIGHT GUN ran well to finish sixth in the Lincoln on last season’s reappearance and came within a nose of beating subsequent Lincoln winner Rogue Diplomat at Doncaster in October. He was conceding the winner 10lb and was just denied by a nose. With more to come this campaign, he’s fancied to go well, though PERSUASION is race-fit and is a pound below his last winning mark, so he’s one to consider.

14.30 Virgin Bet Goliath Cup Stakes (Listed)
AL QAREEM can make a triumphant return to action. He will undoubtedly improve for the run but does look head and shoulders above his opposition based on ratings and form and is the one they all have to beat. If there’s one to beat him then it could be ROARING LEGEND, who has only found one too good on both starts this season on the all-weather and is more than capable of at least taking the runner-up medal.

15.05 Virgin Bet Daily Price Boost Queen’s Cup Handicap
I don’t have a strong opinion on the Queen’s Cup but GAMBINO is an interesting runner for Dan Skelton and Rossa Ryan has been booked to ride. He’s the least exposed after only three starts in this sphere and could be very well handicapped off 83, so he’s fancied to have a say in the matter. TEAM PLAYER produced a career-best performance at Newcastle last time out and must be thereabouts with a similar showing back on the grass.

15.42 Virgin Bet Scottish Sprint Cup Handicap
Plenty to consider in this event. Top weight DEMOCRACY DILEMMA will ensure this is run at a true pace and has fitness on his side following a pleasing comeback run at Lingfield when third in a Listed event. He can make a bold bid if breaking sharply, while VINTAGE CLARETS will get his required strong pace and is 3lb below his last winning mark, so it would come as no surprise to see him in the mix.
