Musselburgh Place 6 preview | 3rd January
12.15 – Fitzdares Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m3f
LES’S LEGACY has been in great form of late, winning two of his last three starts and whilst this is probably the furthest he would want to go, he is a player. ANIMORE is four-pounds below her last winning mark, has winning form on soft ground and was narrowly beaten last time. She has a good chance.
Selections: LES’S LEGACY, ANIMORE
12.45 – Fitzdares Maiden Hurdle – 2m7f
JEM IN EM made a winning rules debut at Perth and ran a very good race when second on his hurdles debut last time. He will have learnt a lot and this isn’t a strong race by any means, so Lucinda Russell’s charge is fancied to go one better over this longer trip, which should suit. I will also recommend SHANTOU’S TEMPLE.
Selections: JEM IN EM, SHANTOU’S TEMPLE
13.15 – Fitzdares Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase – 2m4f
A first-time hood really helped NOTLONGTILLMAY a lot when scoring on his penultimate start and then made a successful chase debut at Wetherby in a deepish race. With more to come, the seven-year-old has sound claims. PARLIAMENT HILL ploughed through the heavy ground to win easily last time and should go well here.
Selections: NOTLONGTILLMAY, PARLIAMENT HILL
13.45 – Fitzdares Handicap Chase – 2m7f
GRIS GRIS TOP is lightly raced for his age and has made the frame in three of his four starts which have all came on soft ground. It’s interesting to see him switched to fences after just two hurdle starts and this might have been the plan for a while. He is interesting, whilst THE FERRY MASTER was fourth in the 2021 Scottish National and is handicapped to go well despite his big weight.
Selections: GRIS GRIS TOP, THE FERRY MASTER
14.15 – Fitzdares Handicap Hurdle – 1m7f
SCOTS POET made it fourth time lucky over hurdles in May and wasn’t disgraced when third over course-and-distance last time and the handicapper has eased his mark a pound. He should be thereabouts, while SPANISH HUSTLE shaped better than the beaten margin suggested last time and could get involved in what is a really weak race for the grade.
Selections: SCOTS POET, SPANISH HUSTLE
14.45 – Fitzdares New Year Handicap Chase – 1m7f
ARTHUR’S QUAY took advantage of a reduced mark to score easily six days ago and despite carrying a penalty on this occasion, he could go in again here. LIMERICK LEADER has made the frame both times on soft ground and should advance his decent hurdles form in this sphere. I can see him running well with more to come.
Selections: ARTHUR’S QUAY, LIMERICK LEADER
