Market Rasen Place 6 preview | 30th September

14.14 – Green Imp Mares’ Maiden Hurdle – 2m

In the opener, CASA NO MENTO has an excellent chance to make a successful hurdles debut. He returned a 12-length winner on debut at Hereford and then went very close when a neck-second in a Listed event. He was down the field in a Grade 2 at Aintree but that was a tough race in general and, with the prospect of developing into a smart hurdler, he should be too good for these.

Tips: CASA NO MENTO

14.45 – Smokey Joe Juvenile Hurdle – 2m

TWO PAST EIGHT has won two of his three starts over hurdles and although he concedes weight, he could be hard to beat in a first-time visor. OUR BOY WES impressively won on his hurdles debut two starts back and even though he wasn’t in the same form on the Flat next time, he retains potential and is the biggest danger to the former.

Tips: TWO PAST EIGHT, OUR BOY WES

15.20 – Leader Handicap Chase – 2m7f

TEDWIN HILLS ran a decent race when second on his chase debut at Southwell when he was well clear of the remainder. From the same mark and more to come, he could go one better. Of the rest, CAN’T BEAT HISTORY was unfortunate to be hampered and unseat his rider last time early on when sent off odds-on favourite and could gain compensation having won impressively here on his penultimate start.

Tips: TEDWIN HILLS, CAN’T BEAT HISTORY

15.55 – Rasen A Glass Handicap Chase – 2m5f

SAINT ARVANS can compete off the same mark as when second at Perth last time and the winner has gone in again since. He should be competitive. KILLER CLOWN is rather hit-and-miss nowadays but is capable when at his best and is 5Ib lower than his last win, which came in a higher-grade event at Kempton last March.

Tips: SAINT ARVANS, KILLER CLOWN

16.30 – Ferry Ales Brewery Prelude Handicap Hurdle – 2m

ADDOSH has become dangerously well-handicapped at present, who is now 5Ib below her last winning mark and won very easily in her only previous start over this C&D two years ago. She’s placed in her last three starts and should go well. CASTEL GANDOLFO finished a good second in the Summer Hurdle over C&D in July and has a good chance with a repeat in this race.

Tips: ADDOSH, CASTEL GANDOLFO

17.05 – Great Character Saison Handicap Hurdle – 2m2f

MAN OF THE SEA ran really well on his last start over hurdles, finishing a head-second in a stronger race at Fontwell, and is only a pound higher for this much easier race. He warmed up for this with a spin on the Flat at Bath last time and should be competitive under Sam Twiston-Davies.

Tips: MAN OF THE SEA
