None of the quartet can be ruled out in the opener in all fairness. SURTITLE seemingly had his stamina stretched when third last time, so this should reveal more back over a shorter trip, while FISTON DE BECON left his previous efforts behind him when scoring at Wetherby and has a chance with a similar display. Finally, Huntingdon winner EAST END GIRL and Ludlow winner THANKYOURLUCKYSTAR also merit respect.

It is worth casting an eye to Paddy Brennan, who comes here to mainly ride TINTININ for his boss. He made a winning hurdles debut at Ffos Las in October and then chased home a subsequent winner under a penalty next time. Another penalty stands in his way on this occasion but that shouldn’t prevent him from potentially resuming winning ways at the expense of Jupiter Allen, who found Grade 2 company too hot to handle last-time-out.

Trainer Olly Murphy has a good strike-rate at this course so it comes as no surprise to see debutant THE SAME has been well found in the betting ahead of his hurdles debut. This isn’t a strong event for the grade by any means though, so if the betting continues to be in his favour, a big performance can be expected. He could be threatened by SAGEBURG COUNTY though, who does set the standard of those with experience.

LILITH could hardly be in better form, who’s a winner of two of her last four starts and has placed in her other starts against higher-rated opponents. She looks sure to go well again, while HAWTHORN COTTAGE can be tough to beat if allowed to dictate and is feared. Just in case neither score, Kim Bailey’s LADY OF THE NIGHT and the well-treated WHATSDASTORY are included on the ticket.

There are two to focus on here, who are the only consistent participants in the field. MARAJMAN has made the frame in his last four starts and finished runner-up in his previous starts here. He remains 10 pounds below his last winning mark and might be able to land the spoils, though FIRST ANGEL ran good races in defeat in her two previous attempts over fences and could spoil the party for the rest if fit enough after a break.

STORM DENNIS won back-to-back events earlier this year and whilst he hasn’t been able to get competitive in two subsequent starts, this isn’t a strong race, so he could easily get back on track. BOLD SOLDIER has finished second in three of his four starts over timber and won’t get many better opportunities to get a first success.
