Ludlow Place 6 preview | 20th December

12.15 – Alpha Aggregates Handicap Hurdle – 2m5f

HAAS BOY displayed good form in bumpers and made a smooth start to his hurdles career when successful at Huntingdon before a good second on his final outing last season. An opening mark of 115 looks lenient and therefore he could go really well here. HASTY PARISIAN wasn’t disgraced in a much stronger race than this last time when fourth and should be suited to the longer trip, so he’s also included on the list.

Selections: Haas Boy, Hasty Parisian

12.45 – Tanners Prosecco Fillies’ Junior ‘National Hunt’ Hurdle – 1m7f

JAMINSKA ran a lovely race when runner-up on her debut last month to a promising sort from the Alan King stable and is expected to take a step forward from that experience here. Jane Williams’ horses have been running really well on a regular basis of late, so this filly could easily step up to the plate and make a serious impact on her hurdles debut.

Selections: Jaminska

13.15 – Tanners Claret Handicap Chase – 2m7f

BACK ON THE LASH has won over track and trip and four times over fences last year. He returned in good form when a rallying third at Cheltenham and takes a significant drop in grade here. Harry Skelton has been booked to ride and he is only two pounds above his last winning mark, so he’s a serious contender for top honours. BOBHOPEORNOHOPE ran a satisfying race when third on his return at Ascot last time and Kim Bailey’s top-weight has possibilities off the same mark with C&D winning form to his name as well.

Selections: Back On The Lash, Bobhopeornohope

13.50 – Tanners Cava EBF Mares’ ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle – 2m5f

Royale Dancer and Touchy Feely both have good claims and whilst the latter beat LA GOMERA, I fancy Alex Hales’ charge to potentially reverse the form with that run under her belt. The winner had the benefit of experience given she ran in three bumper races but this filly made a bold effort from the front and was only beaten a couple of lengths. She is sure to have learnt a lot from that hurdles debut and could go one better with a lot more to come. She is the value call to make the frame at the very least here.

Selections: LA GOMERA

14.20 – G.C.Rickards Ltd Handicap Chase – 2m4f

TOWN PARKS has developed a habit of being inconsistent but he’s now 22Ib below his last winning mark and Sam Twiston-Davies was the last rider to win on him, so Kerry Lee’s charge can’t be taken lightly, especially knowing he’s also won over C&D too. LOUD AS LIONS ran well for a long way on his return last month when fourth and is 5Ib below his last winning mark, so he could make a bold effort from the front here.

Selections: TOWN PARKS, LOUD AS LIONS

14.50 – Tanners Champagne Handicap Chase – 1m7f

GUMBALL is very smart when at his best and wasn’t disgraced back over fences last time when fourth to Thyme White at Ascot. He has undergone wind surgery since, is a C&D winner and is well-treated on the pick of his form, so he looks a big player here. THE WIDDOW MAKER proved no match for Paint The Dream last time but it was still a decent effort and his third in a Grade 1 at Aintree is good form. He too makes the shortlist.

Selections: GUMBALL, THE WIDDOW MAKER
