Liverpool vs. Manchester City – Best Reactions
After an exhausting week long build up, Liverpool vs. Manchester City finally began on Sunday with the two Premier League heavyweights facing off to wrestle control over the title race. Despite a bright start, City would eventually lose 3-1 after VAR controversially denied them two penalties for Trent Alexander-Arnold handballs. Predictably, it all kicked off after the match both in the stadium and on social media. Here are the best Twitter reactions that we found.
After the first handball, Liverpool went straight up the other end to score the opening goal. Despite a review from VAR, the penalty wasn’t given and the goal stood.

It was soon pointed out that the ball may have hit a Manchester City player’s hand first. Though not everyone wanted to see it.

The second goal wasn’t any less controversial. With Mo Salah deemed to be offside, one angry fan decided to conduct his own VAR review.

Liverpool’s third came courtesy of Sadio Mane who had been subject of controversy in the build up after Pep Guardiola suggested that he was a diver.
Pep was right about Mané. He did dive today. For the header. For the third goal.

As Liverpool closed in on the win, Pep Guardiola had a full blown tantrum on the touchline, at which point his comments were mentioned once again.
Never forget that Pep Guardiola spent an entire week trying to play mind games. Called Mané a diver. Pretended that some players were injured. Even put Ederson’s shirt in the dressing room.

Indeed, the Spaniard’s furious rant to officials about the penalties he felt they were cheated out of was a Twitter user’s dream.

It wasn’t just Pep who was anti-VAR at the end of the game, though.
VAR is the worst addition to a season since Emily joined Friends.

However, the Spaniard’s tantrum continued well after full time.

One reason for Guardiola losing control may have been sussed.
Jurgen Klopp has now beaten a Pep Guardiola team nine times in his career….which is more than any other manager. That’s why he’s renting space in Guardiola’s head… #LFC

But at least Klopp didn’t rub further salt in the wound.

It’s not just Guardiola who struggles to win at Anfield. In fact, the last man to do it was arguably the GOAT.

Even Guardiola’s meltdown was put under the microscope and it wasn’t as good as a strop previously thrown by Neil Warnock.
That was class from Pep at the end but it will never beat this absolute classic pic.twitter.com/vuJpfnhSLv
