Newcastle Place 6 preview | 29th March

13.15 – Cazoo Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m7f

PIPERS CROSS took a step forward from her handicap debut when third at Hexham two weeks ago and should be bang in contention from an unchanged mark. Of the others, PERCULATOR is the only one of these to have won on testing ground and she cannot be taken lightly with conditions likely to be in her favour.

Selections: PIPERS CROSS, PERCULATOR

13.50 – Cazoo Search Drive Smile Maiden Hurdle – 2m

COLD SOBER is the interesting one here, who’s related to plenty of useful types and the market should prove a good guide as to what we might expect from him on his hurdles debut. BALLYBEG CROSS has found one too good in each of his three starts but has sound claims of finally going one better.

Selections: COLD SOBER, BALLYBEG BOSS

14.25 – QuinnBet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Chase – 2m4f

Lucinda Russell’s CABOY ended a long losing run when deservedly opening his account at Wetherby three weeks ago after a pair of seconds beforehand and ran well on his last visit here to finish third off a 10Ib higher mark. This is a weak race, so he is fancied to defy top-weight.

Selections: CABOY

15.00 – quinnbet.com Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f

Nicky Richard’s CASTLE RUSHEN has a great record on deep ground which reads figures of 1112 and while his chasing campaign hasn’t gone to plan, the eight-year-old has an excellent chance with lots going for him. ADRIMEL is another deep ground lover, who’s also back over hurdles off a fair mark and he’s dangerous to dismiss.

Selections: CASTLE RUSHEN, ADRIMEL

15.35 – QuinnBet Quarterback Handicap Chase – 2m

GALLIC GEORDIE has a strong record on soft or worse ground and jumped and travelled well en route to coming from off the pace to win under hands and heels riding at Wetherby last time. David Bridgewater’s charge is now assisted by Brian Hughes and is likely to take some beating if turning up in the same form as last time.

Selections: GALLIC GEORDIE

16.10 – QuinnBet Best Odds Guaranteed Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f

MELCHOIR has shown some promise despite failing to make an impact in each start to date and drops in grade for her handicap debut. She could run her best race here, while YOUR PLACE has placed three times off higher marks, including when second at Ayr last year and isn’t out of this by any means.

Selections: MELCHOIR, YOUR PLACE
