Hexham Place 6 preview | 24th April

13.40 – Hexham Racecourse Welcomes Racing To School ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle – 2m

Donald McCain’s ROCK HURLEY signed off his time in France with two wins and while he couldn’t succeed on his stable/handicap debut Bangor when only fourth having been supported into favouritism, he will have learnt a lot and this should reveal more. BELLA BLISS has questions to answer at the moment but would have a chance if able to rediscover her two wins last summer.

Selections: ROCK HURLEY, BELLA BLISS

14.15 – Langley Castle An Outstanding Small Hotel Handicap Chase – 1m7f

PATAGONIA ran a really nice race when second on stable debut at Wetherby and will again be suited to conditions at this course. He has only been raised a pound for that short-head defeat and should make a bold bid. GOING MOBILE claimed a much stronger race than this at Carlisle last time and this C&D winner has to be a big player from only a 3Ib higher mark in this easier race.

Selections: PATAGONIA, GOING MOBILE

14.50 – Horslyx Balanced Nutritional Support Junior ‘National Hunt’ Hurdle – 2m

BOIS GUILLBERT has won both starts over hurdles and beat an odds-on favourite comfortably last-time-out. He has a double penalty to contend with here but has more to come and is the one to beat. TINTINTIN won on hurdles debut at Ffos Las in October and has finished runner-up in both starts since. He is the clear danger with Jack Hogan taking off 5Ib.

Selections: BOIS GUILLBERT, TINTINTIN

15.25 – Download The N-E Bet App Today Handicap Chase – 3m

EVENT OF SIVOLA stays a lot further than this and won over 4m on soft ground in November here and is 2Ib lower for that success, so he needs consideration in this race. He could be hard to pass if allowed to dominate, while MOROZOV COCKTAIL is 6Ib lower than his latest success and ran a fair race here last time despite returning a beaten favourite. He is worth another chance.

Selections: EVENT OF SIVOLA, MOROZOV COCKTAIL

16.00 – Discover Northumberland’s Only Racecourse Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f

MOONLIGHT GLORY has improved a lot this year, who has a win and two placed efforts from his last five starts and should again be thereabouts. FIVE DOLLAR FINE drops into this grade for the first time and is by far the least exposed in the field. He should be suited to the return to the longer trip and is on a nice mark, so he’s a player for Ann Hamilton.

Selections: MOONLIGHT GLORY, FIVE DOLLAR FINE

16.35 – Follow AtTheRaces On Twitter Open Hunters’ Chase – 3m

BILLY BRONCO returned from an absence to beat the useful Step Back at Carlisle last-time-out and had won and placed in stronger events than this over the years, so this is a good opportunity for the veteran to run another big race with a lot in his favour. LATE ROMANTIC is still capable of decent form and has some strong form in his back-catalogue, so he should go well.

Selections: BILLY BRONCO, LATE ROMANTIC
