Ffos Las Place 6 preview | 25th April

13.40 – Cazoo Novices’ Hurdle – 1m7f

NORN IRON showed promise in a bumper at Chepstow, where he came from off the pace to be a staying-on fourth and should advance that form over hurdles for shrewd connections. POLYPHONIC ran well on his handicap hurdle debut at Fontwell last month and should prove dangerous back in a novice.

Selections: NORN IRON, POLYPHONIC

14.15 – Oil 4 Wales Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m5f

MARTALINDY caused a shock when winning at 50/1 at Huntingdon in October and while he made too many mistakes last time, he still ran well to finish second behind an odds-on favourite. He should be tough to beat, granted a better round, while KALPAGA won with any amount in hand at Hereford last time and could follow-up with more to offer from her revised mark.

Selections: MARTALINDY, KALPAGA

14.50 – CHC Country Fair 17th June At Cothibridge Novices’ Handicap Chase – 2m4f

Richard Bandey’s WEWILLGOWITHPLANB has made a promising start for his new yard, in which he won on his chase debut before posting a good second behind a subsequent winner at Hexham over hurdles. He has plenty more to come back over fences and holds strong claims. I think he is one of my strongest fancies on the card but I will cover the former with the hat-trick seeker EATON COLLINA who should run his race.

Selections: WEWILLGOWITHPLANB, EATON COLLINA

15.25 – South Wales Medical Event Cover Handicap Chase – 3m1f

PRINCE DES FIXHAUX was behind ROBYNDZONE when the pair were first and second at Hereford and that form has worked out well given second has absolutely bolted up since. The former should improve for the fitting of cheek-pieces, while the latter has only been raised 4Ib and should make another bold bid. I will be disappointed if at least one of these cannot go very well.

Selections: PRINCE DES FICHAUX, ROBYNDZONE

16.00 – KP Tyres Llanelli Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f

BIG AMBITIONS ran a solid race behind Etalon on his hurdles debut at Wetherby and has produced a couple of decent efforts in defeat since. He is up to a career-high mark but remains in good form and looks competitive on form, while KING OF BRAZIL ran well under a penalty at Newbury last time to finish third and should have more to come on handicap debut.

Selections: BIG AMBITIONS, KING OF BRAZIL

16.35 – South Wales Medical Event Cover Maiden Hurdle – 2m5f

WIDEEYEDANDLEGLESS has shown plenty after three starts under rules and the form of his fourth behind Outlaw Peter two starts ago looks like strong form for the grade as the first three home have all advertised the form-lines. I also recommend MOODOFTHEMOMENT, who I know shaped as if something was amiss last time but is better than that and his two previous efforts back up that view point. He is considered.

Selections: WIDEEYEDANDLEGLESS, MOODOFTHEMOMENT
