Ffos Las Place 6 preview | 23rd January

13.30 – Download The Vickers.Bet App Novices’ Hurdle – 1m7f

Vicki Vale has her sights lowered after being pulled up in a Grade 1 last time and has an obvious chance but ENDLESS ESCAPE has won very easily in both her hurdle starts for Ben Clarke and has more to come. She has to concede weight all round but she hasn’t put a foot wrong so far in the UK and should be hard to beat in her hat-trick bid in the opener.

Selections: ENDLESS ESCAPE

This isn’t a strong race and the Twiston-Davies team have found UNCLE BERT an excellent opportunity to get off the mark over hurdles. He has only found one too good in both his starts over hurdles to date, including when he split two lovely prospects when last spotted at this course. The step up in distance looks a positive move and he should take some beating.

Selections: UNCLE BERT

MILITAIRE has shown promise and been thereabouts in all four starts so far, including the last twice over hurdles. He was second over C&D on his hurdles debut and ran a good race when third at Cheltenham last time in a higher graded event. With more to offer, this six-year-old is a major player. Evan Williams’ IMPERIAL PLEASURE has shown promise in all three starts, including on heavy ground last time, and could figure at massive odds.

Selections: MILITAIRE, IMPERIAL MEASURE

15.00 – Vickers.Bet Independent Family Owned Bookmaker Handicap Chase – 2m

THOR DE CERICY returned to his best when winning smoothly here last time on similar ground and before that, he was an excellent third on his chase debut. He has to be considered as the one to beat here, though MONGOL EMPEROR has gradually improved with each start over fences and won twice over hurdles, so he isn’t out of this if able to keep going forward. This eight-year-old is well-treated and could play his part in the outcome.

Selections: THOR DE CERICY, MONGOL EMPEROR

15.30 – Vickers.Bet Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f

ROCKY MAN is clearly a horse with a lot of ability and the Skelton’s must rate him highly given he was tried and tested in Grade 1 and Grade 2 events last season. Since having his sights lowered, he has won and finished second in two starts and is only 2Ib higher than when second over C&D last time. He is a threat. MASTER DEBONAIR has Grade 2 winning form over hurdles and has fallen to an attractive mark in recent times. Christian Williams’ nine-year-old could go well here.

Selections: ROCKY MAN, MASTER DEBONAIR

ECEPARTI drops into a class 5 for the first time in his career and has won and made the frame numerous times off higher marks previously on this sort of ground to suggest he can at this level. Venetia Williams’ charge could outclass these if able to build on his promising reappearance. MR KATANGA is only 1Ib higher than when bolting up at Chepstow on heavy ground and has been given a good chance by the assessor.

Selections: ECEPARTI, MR KATANGA
