Ffos Las Place 6 preview | 22nd May

13.35 – Welsh Cottage Cakes Novices’ Hurdle

Nicky Henderson’s KING ALEXANDER should be difficult to beat, who beat a decent yardstick in Maclaine when winning at Warwick and that is the best form in the field. He will have no issue over this longer trip, so he is the right favourite and should be difficult to beat.

Selections: KING ALEXANDER

14.10 – Vickers.Bet Handicap Hurdle

WHATSUPWITHYOU has mostly been competing in stronger races than this over hurdles and will be better suited to this shorter trip than last time. He is only two pounds above his last winning mark and should pose a threat with Beau Morgan claiming a valuable seven pounds. LETTERSTON LADY gets weight from all of her rivals and is another eased in grade, so she has a chance for the Bowen’s.

Selections: WHATSUPWITHYOU, LETTERSTON LADY

14.45 – Download Fitzdares For Free Race Streaming Handicap Hurdle

HALLIGATOR is the solid option to hit the frame, who has not been out of the frame in four starts and has a win and two seconds from three starts in this sphere. He has to give a lot of weight to these but he has more to come and is Kim Bailey’s only runner on the card. He is also David Bass only ride, so a bold showing is anticipated.

Selections: HALLIGATOR

15.20 – Vickers.Bet Handicap Chase

COUP DE PINCEAU isn’t getting any younger but he did run better then the beaten margin indicated when fifth in the Norfolk National and the handicapper has dropped his mark two pounds. He stays well, is dropped in grade and could provide a threat. THE MACON LUGNATIC is quirky but he ran one of his better races when second two starts ago in a stronger race and would have strong claims if able to turn up in similar form here.

Selections: COUP DE PINCEAU, THE MACON LUGNATIC

15.50 – Welsh Cottage Cakes Handicap Hurdle

GAVIN scored emphatically at Fakenham last time by 16 lengths and a six pound rise for that success seems really generous to be honest, so the follow-up could be on the cards. TURPIN GOLD was only a distant fourth last time but is better judged on his Stratford success. He could bounce back given his good record fresh which reads three placed efforts from three starts.

Selections: GAVIN, TURPIN GOLD

16.20 – Play With The Finest Bookmaker Fitzdares Handicap Chase

A wide-open race but UNAI is 15Ib below his last successful mark and is down to a career-low mark overall. His two runs this year haven’t been encouraging but this is anybody’s for the taking and he has proven himself off higher marks. I will also add in PRINCE OF BAD LINS who has finished fourth in both starts over fences and has a chance after a spin over hurdles last time.

Selections: UNAI, PRINCE OF BAD LINS
