This should be between the two at the top of the market. CIRCUS ACT opened his account in good style four weeks ago and could follow up getting weight from the rest, though BALLYGEARY won on his hurdles debut last time and won’t go down without a fight.

EVERYDAY CHAMPAGNE could only finish midfield last time but won at Doncaster the time before that and would have sound claims if able to repeat that form here. LYRICAL GENIUS went very close here in January and despite not matching that form last time, he could be thereabouts.

PRETENDING has shown aptitude for hurdles in both starts and could pose a threat with improvement on the cards. RAVENSCAR wasn’t beaten far when trying to win for the second time in succession and isn’t out of this despite remaining on a career-high mark in this sphere.

UP HELLY AA KING is only four pounds above his last winning mark, which came in a higher grade race than this at Doncaster, and has run well in all three starts since. He ran a great race when fourth in the big veterans race at Sandown last time and must have a serious chance in this grade if he can keep up his fine run of form this season.

15.45 – Virgin Bet EBF Mares’ ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle – 2m3f

FAIRY GEM placed twice in Listed company in bumpers but was majorly disappointing when last seen at Wincanton after winning a weak race at Hereford. She is worth one more chance, while I AM GONNA BE has a win and two seconds so far in this sphere and is only a pound higher than her latest second.

16.20 – Virgin Bet Cheltenham Festival Money Back Handicap Chase – 2m3f

HAWTHORN COTTAGE might get a soft lead in this race and, if allowed to do so, he could be tough to overhaul. He has winning form over track and trip and a good jockey has been booked to ride. MONGOL EMPEROR has been given a fair chance by the assessor and might emerge as the bigger danger.
