Chelmsford Place 6 betting preview | August 25th

13.00 – Ire-Incentive, It Pays To Buy Irish Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes – 7f

PEACE OF MINE raced keenly on debut but that didn’t stop her from showing a nice turn of foot to win going away under William Buick. She has a penalty to carry on this occasion, but she still could be too good for these with more to come. SO CHIC improved on her debut to finish third last time and should go very well from stall 1 with Dane O’Neill in the plate.

Selections: PEACE OF MINE, SO CHIC

13.35 – Gentlemen’s Day 10th September Handicap – 1m2f

I quite like the claims of LETHAL TOUCH, who scored easily in June and has made the frame in three starts since. She came very close to beating a 70-plus rated horse at Newmarket last time when only beaten a neck and is only a pound higher in this event. Neil Callan has been booked for the ride and if this filly can translate her turf form to this surface, she should give the favourite plenty to think about in the closing stages.

Selections: LETHAL TOUCH

14.10 – Greene King Classified Stakes – 1m2f

Not a race that sets the pulse racing by any means but BOLD AND LOYAL wasn’t beaten far at Yarmouth last time and gets into this easier race off a two-pounds lower mark. He should go well despite being drawn wide, while ON THE NOSE is only a couple of pounds above her last winning mark and should give another good account of herself under her regular three-pounds claimer.

Selections: BOLD AND LOYAL, ON THE NOSE

14.45 – Chelmsford City Cup Handicap – 7f

The most competitive race on the card. ABOVE was successful at this course last year off this mark and has produced some solid efforts in defeat since, including when runner-up at Newmarket when last spotted. Back over this distance, from a good draw in stall 1, he might go one better. WONDER ELZAAM only found an odds-on favourite too strong last-time-out and has a fighting chance in this off bottom-weight.

Selections: ABOVE, WONDER ELZAAM

15.20 – Betsi Golden Mile Maiden Stakes – 1m

This should prove to be a simple task for MASHAAER who’s clear of these on the form available and her second in a Listed event earlier this year, coupled with her fifth in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot, are strong pieces of form here. This filly won’t get many better opportunities to shed the maiden tag, though Central Hall and Sunglasses are two interesting newcomers from the Simon Crisford team here.

Selections: MASHAAER

15.55 – Membership At Chelmsford City Racecourse Handicap – 1m6f

Selections: MUKHA MAGIC, PLANET LEGEND

MUKHA MAGIC has won four of his last six starts and his jockey’s claim offsets his rise in the weights for his latest success. He’s a serious player, while PLANET LEGEND has been knocking on the door of late and connections have booked William Buick to ride. James Ferguson’s charge, who’s a model of consistency, should have a lot more to offer over this longer distance here and is feared most.
